MCC is there for you if you want nostalgia. Halo is about evolution. Nothing about infinite is evolution. They are banking on nostalgia which won’t last. The number of people playing currently compared to launch proves it.
There’s alot more contributing to the low steam numbers.
They’ve simply mishandled the game from the lack of key multiplayer features, terrible progression, reselling of content and much much more.
You’ll also have to consider that steam isn’t Halo’s home. Xbox is. Not to mention the fact it runs better on the Series X than on a high end PC. After all, this is the first official release on another platform.
Seeing low steam numbers isn’t surprising at all. They could’ve done much better on this game. Their return to classic gameplay isn’t the issue here.
If that were true, shouldn’t there be more players on Halo 5 instead of MCC?
Isn’t MCC/Halo wars on PC first?
Well. Yeah. But I’m speaking in whether it came at launch as opposed to later.
Works in destiny and it works better than Infinite currently
I disagree the og halo’s are dated now but back then they didn’t have anything special apart from the universe and different guns most arena shooters played similar or the same.
So it was essentially just another arena shooter ended up being maybe arguably the best.
But then cod came along with its different mechanics and dethroned halo as top dog.
Bungie started the change and mix of things with I would say 3 and then reach. 4 and 5 continued with that and infinite the same they’re all halo games just not the same basic arena shooter some fans want.
To be honest I reckon if they got their way we’d end up exactly like cod a halo copy paste every year.
In my opinion infinite is the least feeling halo there is, so much is broken half the stuff in the game is pointless from equipment to guns which we only have what 12? We now have to deal with hackers the bs store mechanics that are janky and I don’t care what anyone says halo 5 was slower paced then this. I could go on but no point really.
I think H5 would be considered slower paced if the thrusters, and shoulder charge was not in it.
H5 was a pretty good game when I played it. And I much preferred the playlist without the thrusters and other mechanics.
It’s just me probably but thrusters broke gameplay for me. I’d have someone redbarred and they would either thrust away and live or thrust and kill me.
4v4 Peer to peer ranked matchmaking in 2021 is unacceptable
This is not 2007
They don’t care if they get your money
I wholeheartedly agree. Though the fact is I’ve never had this consistent crap games with P2P.
343 needs to fix a lot of problems with this game unfortunately.
it is, it’s compensation between the different networks and their differing network infrastructure.
Easy fix
Put us on a dedicated azure server
The games file size doesnt mean anything.
Yea, I don’t know about this one lol. I haven’t seen people all of a sudden start wanting H5 style anything back.
H5 is barely considered a Halo game between me and my friends. It’s a good dame with a decent story but the multiplayer is foreign to us. Just did not feel right.
Can someone please explain to me how a troll post like this got this much likes?
We all like different things.
Halo 5 never ran as bad as Infinite that’s for sure. I honestly cannot fathom my 343 thought having no player collision was a good idea because phasing through enemy when you should not is bonkers.
It’s less about his comment about Halo 5 “nailing gameplay”, and more about him judging Infinite from it’s GB size and calling it Fortnite lmao.
Like, do people actually think this is reasonable criticism?
Oh I understand.
I’m actually surprised how much content we got in the campaign for its size. I excoriated 60+ GB since it should be 4K.
Yup.
- Very little content to keep people playing
- A very bad progression system, which also fails to motivate people to keep playing
- A very bad monetization system, which communicates to players that the developers do not respect their time or money with the game.
- The worst netcode of any modern shooter I have seen. It’s astonishingly bad.
- Bugs. Lots of bugs.
- Lots of cheaters/hackers going unaddressed
- Matchmaking problems; SBMM implemented too strongly in social, not strongly enough in ranked. Generally creates unnecessary frustration
- No meaningful response from the devs about any of the above after 6 weeks of release.
Also, I don’t buy the argument that this is a Steam only phenomenon, simply because Halo is an xbox game and not a PC game. Steam is sampling a huge set of players and it’s statistically unlikely that it’s vastly different from what’s happening on Xbox. The game market on consoles vs PC is also very close; there’s not much competition for Halo on PC that doesn’t also exist on Xbox.
They’re bleeding out players and it has nothing to do with their game design choices to move back closer to classic Halo, and has everything to do with a mix of highly incompetent, greedy, and arrogant decision making from 343.
-edit- I also expect a lot of xbox players on OG Xbox one have left, because nobody wants to play a 30fps multiplayer game in 2021
