A friend of mine just bought halo 5, and every time he starts the game, all multiplayer options are greyed out, including co-op campaign. This is very annoying seeing as how I convinced him to get the game to play multiplayer with me. Anyone else have this problem?
Does he have Xbox Live Gold or silver? It sounds like that might be the issue.
He just purchased xbox live gold for one month
Is his account the main account on his system?
I just had him change it, will update soon whether it worked or not
That didn’t do the trick. It still says that he is offline at the Halo 5 main menu. Any other ideas?
Are you able to party up with him outside the game?
Yes, we are able to party up and can hear each other just fine. When i try and invite him to my fireteam though, it says it can’t connect to the server.
Is he under any kind of ban from Microsoft? If he is, it’s possible that he’s not allowed to play multiplayer for whatever reason. Have him check the email he uses for his gamertag. If he has received some kind of suspension, they’ll have sent it there.

Is the X1 connected to the internet? If he’s offline, then he won’t be able to play MM.

They are in a party together and talking to each other. His xbox is online.

Have you tried any other games?

No. He hasn’t even had his X1 very long. Just got it like a week ago and hasn’t had anything to do with microsoft prior.

No, unfortunately halo 5 is the only game he owns
This isn’t Halo 5’s fault. He should contact Xbox Support.
Most likely his Xbox doesn’t see he purchased GOLD… Restart console?
If it still doesn’t see - contact support. It may take few minutes for Gold to activate.
EDIT: If you can party, it seems his Gold is active… Restart, hard restart… His internet connection? NAT open or moderate?

His xbox live gold is active, i had him check the settings on his xbox. He has restarted the console multiple times with no success. I’m not sure about his internet connection. He lives in a frat house that has a lot of people using the same internet connection, could this possibly be causing it?
