Multiplayer gameplay in August?

So we have now seen campaign gameplay with 343 saying multiplayer gameplay coming “soon”. Although it’s hard to say exactly when that will be, I can only think it must be coming in August, or September at the very latest. What are your thoughts, and what do you expect from halo infinite multiplayer?

The part of the multiplayer reveal I’m looking forward to most is seeing if the grappling hook will be there. It felt like a campaign-only feature, and I know people will hate it if it’s in multiplayer as well. But at the same time I think if done right, it could add some interesting mechanics. I’m not expecting it to be there, though.

I have no idea what I want. Would love some info on the maps as that’s what makes or breaks an online game for me.

Think they would do well to have a good mix of competitive and social.

Competitive crowd will want smaller maps, balanced starts, defined spawns, good sight lines, varied flanking options and weapon layouts. For symmetrical maps, having the three lane setup is usually a winner.

Social crowd, needs a mix of fun gametypes and larger maps. A very large gametype like 32 Vs 32 or larger would be perfect. Having maps where movement and navigation reward the player over just straight firefights and vehicle spam would be great. I always think big team maps would be great with less precision weapons that force players closer together.

I think Halo 3 was great as the BR was pretty shocking at range which made for much more exciting and interesting fights on big maps. On Halo 5/2A it’s super easier to third party people from across the map. Remember Reach being a bit like that too, Haemorrhage wasn’t really fun because of that.

Me, being a player more of PVE than of PVP, at this point in history I just want the multiplayer to leave as many players happy as possible.
If only for having a healthier and more positive community.

Yeah multiplayer is really going to make or break this game, I’d imagine they’re working on releasing gameplay asap given the mixed reviews from the campaign trailer/demo. It’s personally hard to be patient especially at times like this but it is releasing this holiday so we’ve really only got 4-5 months to go at the most which isn’t long.

I do not envy the challenge 343 has at hand because they basically have to find a way to bring back old players while also catering to their new players who enjoyed 4/5’s added abilities. I have just the slightest sliver of hope left but I wanna believe. I’m hoping for classic no sprint team slayer, FFA,
BTB, and also modes with sprint as well as it wouldn’t really be fair to the new fans to just remove it entirely. Custom games I’d imagine should be the best it’s ever been.

I just want solid armor customisation.

Apparently it is going to follow Reachs model.

They officially confirmed in a blog post that the grapple hook will be in multiplayer, but it’ll be a single-use pickup item like the Halo 3 equipment rather than a permenant ability like it is in campaign. Seems like a decent compromise IMO

The grappling hook is already confirmed for multiplayer as a map pickup. It will function very similarly to equipment in H3.

I just hope that there’s a beta.

Eh Yeah, but I don’t know how they would go about doing Brutes, They would have to be given shields, and I don’t think they could balance the armor falling off on Brutes which would kind of be weird if it didn’t. Elites in my opinion has always been the Covenants closest comparison to the Spartans so I feel if anything I want to see playable Elites.

I just hope for good amount of content at launch.

No to mention that Brutes are way bulkier then Spartans and Elites which equals a huge hitbox. Unless you give then a notable amount of extra shields (or armor) and/or health, Brute players are going to get shredded.

Otherwise, I do hope we get mp gameplay soon(ish) so 343 can assuage some of the concerns regarding weapon sandbox (please don’t make that pistol shown in the SP gameplay, the magnum replacement) and other stuff such as the grappleshot.

I think that’s better than it being some sort of rechargeable ability. I’m still interested to see how it will work though. Can it grapple onto any surface? That might get crazy on forge maps. And what about grappling onto vehicles? These are the questions I need answered.

Brutes are OP. Nerf ‘em!

I’m hoping for multiplayer news in August, but it’ll probably come in September. From their talk about insider flighting being delayed, i wouldn’t expect a playable demo until October (which still gives them time to fix bugs and make small tweaks). Note though that some community members and pro players have had their hands on the game and provided feedback, so 343i isn’t making a complete shot in the dark when it comes to multiplayer.

Late October or early November is the absolute latest they can delay for building hype before Black Friday. At that point, many players are going to be making a decision about which console they are going to stick with for the next few years, and 343i/Microsoft better bring their A-game.

I want to see gameplay which emphasizes Halo’s great sandbox (weapons, vehicles, equipment) over inherent abilities and overpowered starting weapons, a mix of big and small maps, and an ambitious new gamemode to really wow me. I’d also like confirmation/demonstration of forge, theatre, and customs browser. These are the things i’m looking for, to build hype for Halo Infinite’s multiplayer release.
