Halo 5: Guardians Multiplayer: Originals
One thing I would like multiplayer maps to do is explore major aspects of the Universe we’ve read about, but have only imagined. I know they use multuplayer maps to expand the Universe in various ways already, but I want to see places that have been important in the lore. Examples:
This is where the Master Chief received his upgraded Mark V armor and trained with Cortana for the first time. This would be a neat facility to see and maybe there can be a landing pad with a parked SkyHawk.
The large recreational area with trees and water would make for a good play space. The area could make for a good Banshee and Sniper area, to be reminiscent of the action which took place there during First Strike.
Another training facility, this time belonging to the Spartan-IIIs on Onyx. Since multiplayer is Spartan-IV training, it would make sense to train in recreations of where the Spartan-IIs and IIIs trained. These places are destroyed now so holographic recreations aboard Infinity will do nicely.
The Rubble is a giant asteroid base built by survivors from the planet Madrigal and Covenant Jackals. It would be neat to see this area and the UNSC Midsummer’s Night could be placed nearby to reference The Cole Protocol where the Rubble appeared.
The Arbiter’s home. It would be nice to see Vadam Keep which appeared in The Cole Protocol and The Thursday War. Just seeing Sanghelios would be a treat. Something tells me we will be seeing Sanghelios, and maybe Vadam’s Keep in Halo 5’s campaign so a multiplayer map set there should be easy enough.
Halo 5: Guardians Multiplayer: Remakes
These are just a few ideas I would like to see made into reality. Another thing that is most likely an inevitability are remade maps from previous Halo titles. While all the previous maps themselves are already available in the Master Chief Collection, we know that remade maps are still a thing because the Halo 5 map “Truth” is a remake of Midship and Heretic from Halo 2 and 3. I personally think they should take one map from each previous Halo title and remake it for Halo 5. Preferably maps which haven’t been given a previous remake. Here is a list of maps I would personally like to see remade.
SWORD Base - Halo Reach
While SWORD Base wasn’t exactly my favorite Halo Reach map, I think it could work relatively well with Halo 5’s style of gameplay. The walkways connecting both sides of the room would provide a good place to use ground pound and the balconies could be used for clambering.
Honorable Mention: Condemned
This was a pretty fun map, IMO. The room in the middle with the low gravity made for some interesting gameplay. Aesthetically speaking, the view outside was pretty impressive as well. In a horrific end of the world sort of way.
Longest - Halo: Combat Evolved
I choose this one because it hasn’t been remade like a lot of the other CE maps. This one does make for a good close quarters map however and the ladders could be removed so people can rely on the clambering ability. There are a handful of ledges which could be used to ground pound enemies trying to steal your flag in CTF as well.
Honorable Mention: Prisoner
Prisoner has been remade once and it’s not too different from SWORD Base. It would still make for a decent Halo 5 map for same reasons SWORD Base would be though.
Colossus - Halo 2
This was a map I used to enjoy playing Team SWAT on back in the day. This map hasn’t received a remake yet and is another good place to take advantage of Spartan Abilities like clambering up ledges and ground pounding enemies below.
Honorable Mention: Relic
I was going to go with Relic until I remembered Colossus. Relic would still make for a good BTB map and I do love me some BTB.
Sandtrap - Halo 3
Like I said, I love me some BTB and this was by far my favorite BTB map. Avalanche is a very close second. Hopefully they bring back vehicles like the Mantis, Falcon or Hornet? A good variety of vehicles for BTB Heavies would make my day.
Honorable Mention: Standoff
Despite the fact I mentioned Avalanche as a personal second favorite, I’ll go with Standoff for the honorable mention. I had a lot of fun playing CTF on this map and I bet I would have just as much fun doing so again in Halo 5.
Haven - Halo 4
I don’t have much to say about this map other than it’s not too bad and it makes for a good Team SWAT map, IMO. It would be a decent map to reuse in Halo 5 and perhaps clambering could be used to good affect here?
Honorable Mention: Adrift
Another map I enjoyed playing Team SWAT on. It was also the first Halo 4 map I ever played on where I also managed to get first strike and my team won the match. I can’t help but appreciate this map.
