Multiplayer Concerns

The new Halo 2 Anniversary engine was beautifully engineered and designed. I really do think that it will be fantastic for bringing Halo back into the eSports spotlight. However, I am greatly worried about Halo 5. After watching the gameplay of Halo 5 multiplayer, I’m afraid it looks just like Halo 4 with the exception of some new B.S. jet burst strafing techniques. I’ll admit it looked like a good idea at first, but after dwelling on it for a day or so, I am not so sure it will play out well with the community. I mean, is it really better to keep things simple and fair in multiplayer? After all, the two most popular Halo games were Halo 2 and Halo 3 and they had one thing in common… GOOD OLD FASHIONED BAREBONES COMPETITIVE GAMEPLAY.
So I want to hear what the community thinks about this. Are all of these extra armor abilities and movements really just killing the game not only for eSports, but just the overall feel of Halo. If you ask me, the new Halo games don’t even feel like Halo anymore because so much has been changed. The two most popular Halo games were just barebones competitive gameplay. A pure skill and strategy element I’m just not so sure is there any more.

Please let me know your thoughts on this.

Thanks,

Forums must be dead

I agree. All I wanted was classic halo 2 multiplayer back. I don’t like Anniversary multiplayer. All the vehicles are floaty. That crappy halo 4 announcer voice is in. There is so much flare when getting shot i can’t see a damn thing. Anniversary multiplayer just feels wrong to me. That and the fact that BR’s are the only thing ever picked on either multiplayer is really boring and some maps like warlock for example just don’t work well with br’s. the constant spawn killing and cross mapping was old even before they shut off original halo 2.

Back on topic. Halo 5 just looks like another halo CoD hybrid to me. And since the MCC’s launch was completely FUBAR I probably won’t be buying halo 5. ever.

Unfortunately I haven’t been able to spend enough time online to have an opinion, but in general I think the way halo 3 had those extra equipment ability things was perfect. You don’t need more then that. It was because of the abilities that I hated reach mp, it cheapens the game. Halo 5 sparks my interest I wanna say it seems balanced but idk. Good thing there is a pretty substantial beta

Then play the original. If you don’t like the Anniversary version then don’t play it. There’s a playlist for Halo 2 on its own, you know…

I personally prefer Halo 2 but Deus Ex has to take my top game of all time.

I think H5 is gonna be a Halo COD hybrid. Also, with how MCC has launched I don’t think that I’ll ever get Halo 5. A lot of people are turning this way. It makes me angry that this game is getting such low scores, turning people who never played Halo away from it because of MM and the various single player bugs. Back on subject, Halo 4 was okay at best, and Reach was a little better but not by much. I have to say halo 3 has to be my favorite Halo.

Multiplayer concernes ehy?

How about stop resetting my rank back down to 1 everytime I hit rank 10?! This has happend 3 times now

While I can’t comment on Halo 5 personal gameplay, as I have not played it, I can comment on what I saw.

From the videos I have watched, it seems to be straying away from H2 and H3 more and more.

Now, I for one am someone who enjoys Halo 4 (flame suit is on), so the similarities I saw from the H5 videos to H4 made me happy.

However, I must say that I am disappointed in the ADS feature (regardless of what the IGN editors said positively about it), and I am also upset to see that ridiculous jet pack feature. Yes I know, everyone has one to make it an even playing field. Problem is those things were never needed in H2 and H3, and those are some of the best games of ALL TIME.

So, in all I guess my disappointment is fairly high right now for H5. I am also one of those people who does not believe they will remove those features from the game, ADS and that jet pack are definitely going to stay (343i’s way of “making the game their own”).

In all, I feel that it could hurt the Halo population with the drastic changes they have made, thus increasing the playtime longevity of Halo:TMCC.

Wrong subforum, but I want halo 5 to go back to classic. The new stuff can be left for customs as they make customs really rich with content.

To be honest, my only concern with Halo 5 MP right now is the ground pound. I think it should not be there, the rest of the mobility is fine. From what I’ve seen its pretty balanced as it is. Loadouts are gone and Ordenance drops are gone, Promethean Vision, Invisibility, and the rest of the randomness is gone. I feel its going on the right path. I just hope the bullet magnetism and aim assist ain’t excessive either. Oh and lets not forget, weapons on map are back.

I’ve watched some Halo 5 and to be blunt, it looks terrible. It’s like they have completely ignored everything we’ve said as a community and tried to gear it more towards CoD so they have more roads to take it but 343 don’t realise how little patience people truly have with them.

I’m not an old school Halo kid, my first Halo was Halo 3 but the charm of that game was that everyone was the same. Same weapon, same capabilities and you had to fight to control power weapons and power ups. I don’t want a replica of Halo 2 or Halo 3, I want Halo 5 to be it’s own game but I want it to go back to the vanilla core of the game.

On a side note though, Midship/Heretic remake does look pretty cool but it’s just ruined by the gameplay style. Hopefully the beta gives 343 the feedback to make a great game.

Stop worrying about your rank when they are going to get reset anyways ehy?

I agree, I am not thrilled with how Halo 5 looked. It does appear to be Halo 4 v2.0, and H4 killed Halo esports… I just want regular strategy and pure out shooting people to kill them. No dumb abilities or sprinting or stuff like that. The sword seemed OP as anything too, if you saw pistola use it all he had to do was boost boost and swing, he closed the gap on people wayyyyyy too easily. Sword ban in H5 esports.

I’m with you on this one. The reason I liked the first few halos is because it actually made you think of what to do next. You didn’t really have the option to SPRINT FOREVER somewhere to then die on the run. You had to really out-think someone, remain tactical to be called/considered good. Nowadays it’s just who can get to each other the fastest or close the gap so that they can shoot them with the next most OP weapon and rinse and repeat. Everyone had the same load out and yet everyone was different. Getting a kill meant something where as now it is just another point. Points should not correlate with skills. I like the feeling I use to get when I was low on ammo and I had to think before getting around the next corner to kill a guy or maybe 2 to receive more ammo or get another weapon. Now its simple, run, melee/assassinate, gg. Done…sad days lol. This is not to say I won’t buy Halo 5. Halo is something that I just get for story (amazing) and multiplayer is kind of a side thing. If it works then I’m happy, if not, then I’m happy that at least I still have a GREAT story.

I haven’t played Halo 3 in years but I think that Halo 1 had it right. Call me cheap or simple but I think that having overshield and stealth was enough to separate the game from others and that was enough for me. Remember how everyone would freak out when someone had overshield? The good old days.
