Multiplayer Communication

Okay, I know that communication is vital in Halo but rarely has been executed. Veteran Players tend to know what to do without the mic, but can’t give a signal to teammates that something’s out there.

I’ve played a lot of Halo games, and I don’t see a whole lot of mic users. I knew there was going to be a problem. How will I have others to help me when I needed it? Teammates don’t listen and go on their lone wolves style to be slaughtered. There’s a reason for the gametype to be called “Team” Slayer. I’m trying to make a point, so the Team would be better and united. I have an idea for this, even though, my idea may be ignored because nobody cares. Anyway, in Big Team Battle Players would get on Warthogs and Tanks, but most of them just jump in and speed away without a gunner. Also, the Warthog driver would have a hard time finding players to be the gunner, right? The mic users would have the same result if he told other teammates to hop on, but the teammates may have muted you by using the Xbox, stopping most communication. That’s where it get annoying, nobody hears you whether you have a mic or not.

Like I mentioned in the beginning, signaling others if the enemies are neaby would come in handy. I have to admit the idea kinda came from Gears of War 3’s spotter. The Spotter is so useful that it allows teammates to know where enemies are! Think about snipers… you know how dominant they are at long range? Very dominant and annoying. Well, who’s going to take them out? The DMR and BR works when you don’t have a sniper, but there’s a chance you could be sniped; the spotter (or whatever you call it) would show where the sniper is and give him a hard time by flanking him. It also would give an awareness of what’s out there (Spotting in real life would show everyone that the UFOs exists) and slightly better team.

No, this is not my main idea. I’ll tell you now. For example, the Warthog driver needs a gunner, so he makes some kind of a signal to show that he needs one. It’s like a visible request or a glowing vacant spot on the Gun and passenger seat with maybe a word, “Hop on!” When teammate see that, they would feel obliged to do it. If you’re a gunner or passenger of the Warthog, you can tag or spot (Like I said, whatever you called it because the word “Spotting” be copy righted) while you are riding; this should apply to all vehicles. Warthogs and Tanks should be warned by you or teammates by spotting, like this, “Tank Alert!” Or “Warthog Alert!”

Yeah, I thought of this. It doesn’t seem too bad, but it requires a free button like the D-pad or the back button or whatever. I don’t know how much it will affect the game, so it’s a thought.

Bonus: Thank you signals like a guy saved your life or some teammate takes out the annoying opponent. This could be easily spammed, so it should be used with a restriction. This is optional.

You’re not very clear in your reason…

Think spotting from Gears of war but include what weapon they have or vehicles.

Basically to increase team communication, which is difficult because not a lot of people have mics these days.

If people don’t want to plug their mics in, what makes you think that they’ll use this rather convoluted call out scheme you’ve worked out?

Sorry, just can’t see it working.

There was a real neat idea way back on the forum. Any of you played Portal 2? Their co-op marker works wonders even if your buddy has a mic. Same idea, but for Halo 4. You just mark an area, pointing it out to other people on your team. If someone starts abusing it, think of “muting” but just making their markers invisible to you.

There should be something to help the players to be more of a team. MM team work with randoms hasn’t been that good, and people don’t use mics.

It could work if it doesn’t interfere with the gameplay.
