Multiplayer Canon that would be interesting

So I remember this recent form discussion: DOES ANYONE ACTUALLY CARE IF MULTIPLAYER IS CANON?
I could just have as easy posted this idea in there, but on top of it being relatively old news I feel it deserves its own thread.

So Multiplayer is canon and that’s not a bad thing imo. However the common argument I heard from the thread linked above, was that it didn’t really make sense how it can be a simulation if you die and respond. Logically speaking it’s weird, how does it work? These are questions and topics I saw a lot on there.
I very much like the idea of it being canon in the sense that it’s spartans training in a simulation against each other. Obviously people want Elites back, as do I, but we need to think of a logical way to have a canonical reason as to way.
For those that don’t care for canon MP and the ones who do, I think you’ll both like what I’m saying here: One team is Elites and the Other Spartans, and I don’t mean as a simulation. It would be a legit mission; Blue team, Fire team Osiris and so on are teams of spartans consisting of four members. Think of a game going as follows- the Elites have infiltrated wherever the map is and the spartans have to go in and stop them (Vice Versa if it’s a Covenant map). This gives the multiplayer a better experience if it feels more like a mission or task rather than a simulation imo.

Now I know some will be like “oh well what about repawns” or “I like the sims better” well make it could just be one mode? Like breakout so you only have 1 life, or whatever. Personally it never really bothered me for respawns I’ve just ignored that, being a sim and all, and wouldn’t really mind it for this just because respawning is a given unless its a game like breakout.

So what do you guys think? Would this be a good way to make the Canon multiplay more interesting or nah? I understand some of you may have a problem with this, so I’m going to quote Viper Skills here:
Does it matter? No, not really. But there’s no inherent harm in prescribing a bit of purpose or backstory to what you’re doing.
As long as it isn’t leaking over and actively harming gameplay then it can only benefit those who enjoy the lore. And if you dont, well, it’s not harming you either.

I’m kinda sad cause this probably won’t be front page material, which means I probably spent 30 mins writing something that will probably get 4 comments…
Whatever I just wanted to get this out there.

I like the idea. I actually liked Spartan Ops in Halo 4 where as they acted as actual missions and the multiplayer combat is the simulation aboard the Infinity.

That being said, I’m not a fan of playing Elites. But if Elites are added, aren’t some of them allied with the UNSC now? Some of Arbiter’s goons? They could be training with the Spartans in the simulator. Doesn’t have to be any elaborate backstory as to why they’re involved.

I mean I really only mention playable Elites because I know that’s what people want to see. So it would be an interesting way to both have have them in MP and keep it canon. However canonically speaking I believe they’re at peace, but not necessarily allies. With that I don’t think they would volunteer to be in a simulation with Spartans.

As for story I imagine some would really like the idea of MP being an elaborate backstory, but I wouldn’t be opposed to it if it wasn’t.

No Simulations - Remember Reach (and playable Elites)

Don’t worry, you’d be surprised at how many lurkers there are. I used to lurk here for a long time myself, before I started posting

I mean, I don’t see much of a problem with simulations. Halo is, after all, a heavily canon-and-lore based game.

I think I’ve got the whole respawn situation figured out in my headcanon. Once the Spartan receives enough simulated damage, their MJOLNIR armor will go into armor lock, causing them to immediately stop moving. The Spartan is then locked for a set period of time, and then teleported to a respawn point through a system similar to that used by monitors to get around their installations.

I would be open to it

That…actually makes a lot of sense. Or at least it’s the way to think of the response for a simulation.
