Multiplayer Bots & Settings

Multiplayer bots are a welcome addition to Halo. They are fun to practice against but I can’t help but find myself wanting a little bit more when it comes to bot settings. Currently the only settings involve the number bots and their skill level. While this is great for starting out it, it does make them feel a little limited.

Almost 20 years ago on the original Xbox, 007 Night Fire had multiplayer bots with quite a few different settings including Personality, Aggression, Accuracy, Reaction Time, Movement Speed, Health, and Recovery Rate. I personally would like the ability to customize and save bots for future use or even to share with others.

To give you a better idea of some possibilities for bot customization in Infinite here is a brief description of each of the available personality traits in 007 Night Fire:

Collector - Collects pickups whenever possible
Guardian - Protects members of the same team
Team Player - Works cooperatively to win the game
Judge - Targets the opposing player with the highest score
Berserker - Seeks out and attacks the nearest player, no concern for winning or pickups
Greedy - Collects pickups regardless if convenient
Vengeful - Targets the player who last killed the bot.
Assassin - Targets players who are weaker than itself.

Do you think adding more layers of customization to bots would be a worthwhile addition to Infinite? I realize we are mere months away from launch so asking for a large overhaul may not be realistic, but I feel like it would add a lot of depth to the overall experience.

You’re giving me Perfect Dark vibes here. Dark Sim, Turtle Sim, Meat Sim! Jeez that was a great game back in the day.

I think having different types of AI would be really useful in training mode.
