343 has finally nailed the mechanics and balance necessary for solid gameplay in the Halo series, but damn, that campaign is truly terrible.
First, there is no character development whatsoever. Second, there is no exmplanation of who blue team is for those who are newcomers, nor do they get any spotlight or focus they deserve. Third, Cortana. But I’ll come back to this. Fourth, Locke is incredibly bland. I have no idea why 343 has been cramming him down our throats. He’s just another military lap dog. Fifth, the friendly AI is complete dog -Yoink-. Lastly, the overall plot (related to Cortana). I mean, this -Yoink- reads like a -Yoinking!- fan fic written by a butthurt teen that is somehow trying to cram Cortana back in after her death in Halo 4. It’s so bad. The person responsible should be fired, and I say that in he kindest way possible.
Hands down worst campaign in the series. This is not the game we were hoping for. Huntthetruth, the books, the commercials…none of it is relevant whatsoever. Hell, even the plot points and characters developed in Halo 4 are thrown aside for this -Yoink- show. We were promised that the halo universe would be expanded, but this seems like a complete step backward for all intents and purposes.
