343, Can you not put so many announcements about the game in Halo 5? Like seriously, I was playing Halo 4 awhile ago on oddball, and the multiplayer announcer, announces way too much! “You have the ball” Yes, I know! “First touch!” can you just put it as a word at the top of the screen? “ball holder” it’s only been 10 seconds, who cares? and so many more. Plus announcing medals that are not even that good? like come on, make him announce more important things, and that are actually take effort to achieve like the double kill, snapshot or killing spree. Plus you have to put less medals in the game, Halo 4 has way to many!
Oh my god, I knew I wasn’t the only one who found it a little annoying with the constant announcements.
For me, I think more Jeff Steitzer, the better, but i get what you mean. The medals are diluted because there are too many silly ones.
So long as they don’t bring back Halo 3’s Flag juggling flag picked up/flag dropped nonsense.
They just need less medals and an option to mute him.
The german voice actor is even more annoying
Since Chief doesn’t talk much, when he does, it is impactful.
The same theory applies to the announcer and on-screen medals, less is more.
I’m not saying I agree with this but let’s just throw it out there.
Do you think we should get a new announcer?

No, he just needs to talk less.

I have to agree, It was alright at first in Halo 4, but it got to the point of insanity, No, I don’t really care if I distracted somebody.
Thanks for your guy’s replies, I hope 343 see’s this and does something about it in Halo 5.
Again, sorry for comparing Halo 4 with Call of Duty but I can’t avoid it. In COD, you’re constantly spammed by the bunch of things you unlock everytime you level up and the guys yelling “we lost bravo, we lost alpha, we’ve been dominated… blah blah” at you. Halo wasn’t like that. Now everytime you grab an upgrade you hear “speed boost, damage boost, first strike, first touch, the king is the leader, blah blah”. That’s completely unnecessary.
The medals are also annoying. Distraction is terrible. And the worst of them all: comeback kill. Oh, do you have to remind me how much I suck at the game? Pff. It’s completely stupid. We only need Jeff Steitzer’s classic “double kill, triple kill, killing spree, etc.”. Hope 343 fixes this or at least, as the other guys said, add an option to mute him because it’s completely annoying and unncessary.
I don’t want the option to mute him, because i like hearing him say things like ‘double kill, killing spree, first strike’, etc.
But yeah, as the majority have said, get him to talk less. And is it normal to say that i preferred the old, stoic recordings, over the new, over-enthusiastic ones?
I liked the announcements though I thought they needed more medals like in halo reach where you’d get 3 types of spree medals such as sword spree, slice and dice, and I forget the third.
I thought some of the announcements were funny and encouraging.
When you get the road trip medal imo it sounds funny. Or when you get a hail Mary or a big spree such as a rampage its really encouraging. I also find it the most enjoyable to get assists and protector medals though I wish they added sprees for these. The only problem I had is when I would have a bad game and he would announce comeback kills, that would make me feel like I was horrible and would further fuel my rage thus causing me to play worse.

Hail to the King!
I completely agree, the announcer was ridiculous and the medals were worthless. The worst for me was in Grifball where the announcer would say everything about the ball except for goals scored, which is by far the most important thing to hear.
Yeah, the announcements in Halo 4 were so repetitive, and I know what you mean. Oddball is a perfect example for that.

Nooooooooooooooo.
It isn’t the announcer who is the problem, it’s how much they have him talk.
Good Ol’ Jeff is part of the Halo Multiplayer legacy, I don’t want to see him go. At least, not automatically.
An idea that could be cool is, similar to Firefight voices in Reach, unlocking and ‘purchasing’ voices to be the announcer in Guardians.
The Arbiter, or even Didact saying ‘Running Riot!’ would be cool, right…?
(Yeah, I know, stupid idea… :P)
> They just need less medals and an option to mute him.
THIS.
Yeah, that was one of the issues in this. Jeff Steitzer is a great announcer, but the repetitive medals were the definition of insanity in Halo 4.
The fact that they have a Generic Kill medal should have told them they’re doing something wrong.
I don’t mind the medals or the announcer.
But… I like my medals…
In all seriousness though we could do with less, but don’t ever criticize the infallible Jeff Steitzer, that man is as much Halo as the Master Chief himself. Although I wish flag juggling wasn’t a thing because CTF matches quickly become UNBEARABLE.
