Multiplayer and Campaign, would it be perfect?

Look I am not a 343 developer at all but I do know this though is that give us the gameplay, split screens everything everybody has been asking for after halo 4 and 5. These two games weren’t halo to me at all in the first place because everything used to be about a super soldier and his AI that try to save on what’s left of humanity from the alien religion known as the covenant but know we have these side characters no one really gives a crap about apart from Johnson of course. Look is that I just hope this game has what has been asking for in the past 8 years already, but I wouldn’t be surprised overall this game has micro transactions in it since every company nowadays would make a quick buck.

Hum, I’m having a hard time understanding this post. Am I right in understanding you say Halo 4 and 5 “aren’t Halo” because it’s no longer solely about humanity fighting a desperate war against the Covenant, and that you believe most people don’t like Blue Team as characters? Or did you mean like Sarah Palmer and OSIRIS by that?

The Covenant might not exist as it once did, but it’ll always have its mark. There’s the many splintered factions (on both sides of the war) that have their grudges and still want to continue the fight, and then there’s the Covenant’s own rebel faction - the Banished. So it’s not like they’re just going to disappear simply because the story’s not all about them being the mighty giant anymore, and there’s always the ever looming threat of the Flood as a greater scope villain.

Basically: “I want Chief and Cortana, no one else.” We can’t return to that format. It’ll hurt the story and, if nothing else, it could mean that they’ll start using nostalgia elements to keep the series alive, which I heavily disagree with. Sure, they CAN use something, but RELYING on them is a bad idea. Sonic is suffering from it’s over-reliance on nostalgia, and it’s hurting the franchise (not just story) more than healing.

Here’s a list of some stuff that is confirmed for Infinite.

  • Splitscreen is up and running, supporting up to 4-player splitscreen; - Black undersuits for Spartans, instead of it being colored after the primary; - Reach-INSPIRED customization. Not a direct recreation, but an inspiration; - There will be microtransactions, but how they will appear isn’t confirmed yet, but we know we won’t be able to purchase them using real money; - The story will continue the events of Halo 5. Guardians and focus more on John-117. It’s not a spin-off, but a direct continuation (basically, it’s Halo 6). A hunch tells me that it’ll also tie the Halo Wars story into this; - The game will feature an “out-of-game” progression system. Not really sure what they mean by this; - Players who reached SR-152 in Halo 5: Guardians will be awarded a small token of appreciation in Halo: Infinite. Not something major, such as armor, just a cool gimmick.

On the MTX front I always assumed it’d something along the lines of the Blitz/REQ packs for in-game currency, and then a separate topic you buy with real money (Like say exclusive stances, assassinations, etc).

On two separate articles, I saw:
“There will be microtransactions” and “There may be lootboxes, but you won’t buy those with real money”. Which helped suggest to me that there’d probably be a return of random-drop item packs that feature in a Blitz/Warzone esque mode that can only be obtained with in-game currency, and then another set of items you get with either/or.

I guess that’s something we’ll find out more about in due time!

I’m honestly not positive what you’re trying to articulate in your post.

Yeah, there was a definite tonal shift in Halo 4 & 5 but 343i has explicitly addressed that and is deliberately trying to rekindle some of the ethos and emotional aspects of the earlier games. I’m confident 343i can deliver on the campaign.

I’m more worried about the multiplayer because there’s a lot more controversy there regarding which direction the player movement/abilities should go. I think this is why 343i is playing the game so close to the vest because its aware that as soon as ANY gameplay is shown at all, it’ll be extremely controversial.

Like…if there is just a two second clip of a spartan sprinting…the internet is going to explode.

And no matter what they do now, it’s gonna alienate someone, somewhere. Go Full-On Classic and pretend nothing after Halo 3 was ever added? Reach, 4, and 5 people might be unhappy and everyone else will be thrilled. Go “Hybrid” like 5 did? And you’ll get people on both sides that’ll be happy, tolerating, and unhappy. Obviously they won’t go the Full Modern route though, so no concerns there.

I honestly don’t care which direction they take it myself. I loved CE, 2, 3, Reach, 2 Anniversary, and 5. Classic? Hybrid? I’ll take either just as happily. Ditch Sprint but keep Thrusters? Ditch both? Keep both? I’ll take it. The only way I’d start moaning is if they somehow pulled a Halo 4 again - the ONLY multiplayer I wasn’t thoroughly invested in (Only Action Sack and Dominion saved it for me).

But that’s just me, just one person. Personally I feel I’ll be happy regardless of which direction they take, but no matter what they do there’s going to be a chunk of people upset with them. Upset they’re still doing Hybrid, upset they threw out everything and went back to Full Classic, or upset over something new added in between, or whatever else. <shrugs>

I mean it doesn’t feel like the original trilogy anymore

I totally agree with your statement

All I said is that halo isn’t just Halo anymore after 4 and 5

That’s a given, especially with 4, but that doesn’t mean they’re not Halo games. They’re just very different (In 4’s case, not necessarily for the better). Otherwise Reach, Wars 1 and 2, and Sparatan Assault/Strike aren’t Halo games either.

With that being said, 5 at the very least tried to tighten things up a bit after going way too far with… Stuff… In Halo 4, so I figure Infinite will continue that. If it plays anything like Halo 2 Anniversary I’ll be very happy. I’ll also be happy if they keep thrusters/stabilizers personally; they’re about the only thing I miss when playing the other games in the series - I could care less about Sprint either way though, I tend to walk most of the time in Arena anyway.
