This and this have one thing in common. The same chest piece.
However, even though these two spartans have the same, default chest pieces on, notice how the skins on them are different? This contradicts the notion that skins are armor specific, or does it? Perhaps certain armors can support multiple skins?

I think the armour skins are just in general for all armour, they just previewed them on selected armour (i think)

This is what I believe, too.
It would be odd to have certain skins only apply to certain armor, especially if the skin itself is awesome but the armor…not so much.
I’ve always assumed that the skins were for all armors. Otherwise, what’s the point in having them be separate from the armor itself? (Also, if that’s true, then I’ll be upset that my Web pre-order skin will have to wait until I unlock the CIO armor.)
Of course, it could be that both those screenshots have the “default” armor skin which looks similar across all armors.
Dunno. Might have to wait until release to have this question answered.
I believe it’s a whole spartan customization option not single selected armor piece option, it would be cool thought I would give it that but sometimes I like one pattern not multiples it makes my spartan feel more barbie girl than anything else

That would actually be really good. I always thought it was kind of dumb that they’re armor specific. Although its not a huge deal if they are armor specific.

Exactly.
I just want to be able to use the Spider-Man-esque armor skin without that specific armor from Amazon.

Seeing as all the armour was shown in PAX, if you don’t see what you want there, then I’m sorry for you. I’m pretty sure the exact opposite of what you said is true. Only certain skins can work on certain armour pieces, or either the list for armour would so huge per piece.

To completely clarify I’ll quote the part of the OP he got right.
