I read a recent post about bringing multiple versions of different weapons from each game in to Infinite and while I think that would be a little too redundant from a gameplay standpoint and would also be a nightmare balancing wise, it got me thinking, what if they could at least bring over the visual aspects all in to one game?
You know how for each weapon that has had multiple versions throughout each game like the BR’s, the AR, shotguns, etc… everyone has their favourite? Some people like the Infinite AR the most, some people don’t like it at all and prefer the look of the H3 AR. Well what if we could unlock game specific skins? You would obviously start with Infinite’s version of every weapon. But then let’s say you do some challenge and unlock H3’s AR skin. Now if you don’t like the Infinite AR, you can slap the H3 skin on their and boom, now you got a H3 AR. All the weapons would have the exact same properties like the damage, rate of fire, all that stuff would stay the same as the Infinite AR, it would simply just LOOK like a H3 AR. Let’s say the sidekick is replacing the magnum and they’re not planning on bringing the magnum back in a post launch update or something. Let us put a magnum skin on it. H1, H3, H5, whichever magnum skin you want. Imagine if they even made different skins FOR the game skins. The possibilities are insane. I understand they would have to put in extra work for things like reload animations and stuff like that but damn would it be cool.
Maybe they could even change the audio too and let you choose that on different versions. Imagine playing Infinite, putting on a H3 AR skin, then equip the H4 AR audio lol So many customization options.
They could even take it a step further and apply this system to vehicles as well. Imagine rolling around in BTB with a classic, simplistic HCE warthog.
I think this idea would add so much content and bring something new to Halo that no other game has even done to my knowledge.
I bet it would even be cool for 343i to be able to go back and recreate so many classics and bring them to this 10 year journey they’re wanting to give us. I realize this would be a MASSIVE undertaking but I think further down the line it would revitalize customization and bring in a ton of value, not to mention it would be able to satisfy literally everyone at a visual level as each person has their own favourite version of each weapon. Would also bring in a huge nostalgia factor.
