I may be a bitter old player who’s too competitive to allow the “worthless” playing with or against me, in your eyes.
However, I believe that Multiplayer should be locked for everyone who has not completed all three tutorials, or alternatively, not beaten the campaign.
If Rank 1 players who are very unfamiliar with the game, or the genre, or gaming overall, just can jump into MP, I will have a bad time and they’ll have a bad time.
As such players apparently can match with a wide range of Players, Rank and Trueskill.
Yes, Rank isn’t an indication of skill, and a Rank 1 player can be a beast at the game, I know and I accept that.
I however think that preparing the new players a little before jumping into Multiplayer would be far better than let them test the asphalt with their face.
How fun must it be for an entirely new player who has yet to grasp the controlls, to sit in Multiplayer with one or two team mates, and then get destroyed by someone more experienced?
I played a few matches yesterday with and against completely new players.
It was really frustrating having a team mate who at the 12 minute mark on a Stronghold match, had built his first army and decided to join me and our third player’s Assault on the enemy’s final base.
At the same time, I can’t imagine how fun it was for our opponents who sat with a similar player.
How fun is it for a new player to get matched with experienced players?
How fun is it for experienced players to get matched with new players?
Both sides would benefit from having the Multiplayer locked until all Tutorials are finished, or the campaign is completed, at least to some degree.
