Let’s say I have mounted the disk on my HD and am now playing it through Halo:Reach as DLC. Would my friend then be able to play the MP off the disc, so he would not have to buy his own copy?
Whoops I misread that post. I was thinking of pie.

Your theory sounds like it would work.
From my understanding, if you save Halo Anniversary on your HD, you should be able to play through your Reach disc. Or maybe it’s the other way around. If you have Reach installed, you can play the Reach maps on CE:A.
With Fallout 3, you could install the DLC off the second disc and play off the original disc in that case, or from the non-GOTY version equally.
If the installation of the DLC is considered separate to Halo 1 although it’s on the same disc, then you might indeed be able to pass copies around.
It’s a fairly obvious and therefore unlikely exploit, however.
It’s probably going to be like ODST. You can’t just install the maps and play off your Reach disc.
Halo CEA doesn’t have a multiplayer disk, it is all one disk. But if you install the maps to your hard drive, your friend WILL be able to continue to use the maps on the CEA disk separately.
I’m pretty sure one of two things will be possible:
1: There is an option in the Extra’s menu to install the map.
2: There is a download card in the game case to Download the maps from Marketplace.
Just installing the game Halo CEA itself from the dashboard won’t let you access the maps on Reach.
I think every Halo CEA disk can allow you to install the maps only to one profile and that is the profile which installs the maps for the first time.
