MP Armor Idea

I bet this has been mentioned somewhere but I’d like to see HI change the way the red and blue teams appear in MP. Instead of coloring our entire spartan armor red or blue, how about put a red/blue outline around players so that we can both identify teams and see the unique color choices for everyone’s armor? I think we would all like for our armor customization and color choices to be displayed accurately in a 4v4. What do you think?

That isn’t a very good idea. The changed armor color is a reliable way to tell enemies from allies apart

So…you don’t think a red/blue outline would be good enough? Ok.

Matchmaking has been changing armor colors to identify teams since the beginning, but the problem is it washes out the individual colors. There’s got to be another way.

Nah. Seeing others’ armor color doesn’t really matter. Don’t fix what’s not broken. If you really want to see others’ armor colors, just go to Free For All or Infection.

For me, being able to see the custom armor of either allies or foes is already good enough. The color don’t bother me and I like the Blue vs Red.
If he wants to see other Spartans color there is always free for all or firefight.

outlines are to cartoony, even for halo. i think the shield emitters should glow in the teams color for easy identification.

I get where you’re coming from, but it would be too distracting. You should immediately be able to tell what team a player is on, when playing Halo. Obviously, Free For All gametypes have no such requirement, so it’s fine having the armour appear as customised.

Are you thinking something along the lines of how observer mode looks with the red and blue outlines? I think that would annoy me. As cool as it sounds to be able to display your colours more I’d rather everyone look normal. Maybe let us at least choose from a shade of red/blue.

Yea, something like that but without increasing size of the spartan. I wouldn’t want an outline to give myself away when hiding behind an object.

I like soo much your idea!!!

I can appreciate your basic objective of keeping a player’s individual expression visible in PvP modes, but suggestions for an outline to do this or simply making the shield emitters the team color don’t work nearly as well as forcing armor color.

PvP modes are already “simulations,” from a lore perspective, so I don’t let the forced armor color change bring me down. It makes sense in-universe why they’d do it just like it does in the real world; at a glance, there’s no substitution for straight up red vs blue.

armor colors + shield emitters is the way to go i think. the emitter glow can replace the plasticy character glow present in halo 5

no, just an outline would cause a dramatic increase in team kills. my sucky reaction time already has me chucking grenades into team mates and I don’t even want to think about how often I’d be booted if there wasn’t a blatantly obvious color coded dude in front of me.
I do think a good idea though would be if just the primary armor color changed but the secondary or tertiary armor colors were whatever you have selected. and made bring back your emblem being displayed on your armor.
