Movie Tie-In

I watched Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn again today and it got me thinking. For Halo 4 we got Forward Unto Dawn, and Halo 5 we got Nightfall. Do you guys think we will see another live action or animated movie leading up to Halo Infinite?

What do you think it could be about? My first thought was maybe a story about the effects of Cortana’s Reclamation on a planet or system, to better grasp or see the scope of what she is doing.

I hope they don’t do another movie/mini-series, mostly because from what we’ve seen so far it ends up detracting from the game.

I really liked Nightfall, but the big issue I had with it was that it gave Halo 5 an excuse to not flesh out Locke’s character. A large amount of players likely didn’t watch the series, which is why everyone says he’s a ‘boring’ character in the game. Adding a huge amount of character development (let alone a situation where he faces deep moral dilemmas) into a series and saving virtually nothing for the game was a huge mistake. Forward Unto Dawn suffers from the same problem, but Lasky’s likability in Halo 4 makes up for it imo.

Another ad campaign would be cool, so long as it’s not misleading again lol. That’d be a cool way to do your Reclamation idea, maybe like cryptic radio distress calls. I’d say leave any live action funding for the TV show after it finds a new director.

I hope we do. The movies are made well and are quite enjoyable. Then again, they might be using the TV show as a live action tie-in this time around. But, if it is a movie, maybe something that covers a new character in Infinite since it seems like that’s been the trend with previous ones. I like your Cortana idea a lot though.

I agree with you on the potential to detract from the game, and as you said they did not flesh out Locke’s character in Halo 5. But I don’t think Forward Unto Dawn hurt Halo 4 the same way Nightfall hurt Halo 5. This may be due to Forward Unto Dawn focusing on a side character, Lasky who we do not play as, rather than a main character like Locke.

As long as it doesn’t negatively impact the game in any way, I would be happy to see something made.

I don’t think Nightfall necessarily detracted from Halo 5. I fully believe Halo 5’s utilization of Locke would have been the same, even if Nightfall never existed. Halo 5 just didn’t use its characters that well, save for a few exceptions.

I haven’t watched it since it came out, so I’ll do that again here soon. Thinking about it you’re right, Nightfall’s existence doesn’t automatically equal a bad character portrayal in the game, but I suppose it’s easy to point to that as the cause.

I don’t think it’s needed, but they could possibly do something if the tv show comes out before Infinite.
