Movement speed: LR CTF

Ok, i have changed the title and subject of the thread. I was wondering if anyone thinks that the movement speed of Lighting CTF should be the default movement speed.

They both seem pretty slow to me. But that’s probably because sprint makes it so you have to move slower when not using it.

I know what you mean people say halo 4 is faster or event the fastest, but that is no where near true

Halo 4’s default movement speed is the same as in Halo 3. Reach’s default movement speed was slower, especially in the beta. Frustratingly so. Halo 2 and CE movement speeds were the fastest.

I remember being glad that 343i decided to INCREASE the movement speed back to H3’s speed when they announced H4. So that’s my ‘proof’, even if unreliable.

The reason H4’s speed may feel slow is because they designed the maps around sprint. Maps are much, much bigger than in previous games.
FOV range also has a large psychological impact. A large FOV range feels a lot faster than a small one.

I think at first 343i overestimated sprint so they made big 4v4 maps like Solace or Complex and really big Forge pieces (compare Halo 4’s Shutout to Halo 2’s Lockout). After that they made map like Skyline which isn’t bigger than Halo 3’s Assembly, so it looks like they’re back on track. Really, people use sprint to move faster, so there is no point in making bigger maps because of it.

As for default speed I found it not different than Halo 3’s. However strafing should be less slugish. I would rather see fast and responsive Halo2/CoD movement in Halo 5. Sprint is ok as long as it’s not dictating maps size. And there could be some mechanics where the less shield/health people have, less sprint they can do, because I’m tired of running after another almost-dead prey.

One way or another, after playing Crysis 3, I can determine that the movement speed is “slow as hell.”
