As someone who has played every halo game, campaign, and multiplayer, I want to add my feedback and my personal opinion on the state of Halo Infinite. For me, I have the same playing expedience in Infinite as I did in Halo 5, to me, it’s the same game except Halo Infinite has less creative imagination and even worse movement mechanics.
I hop over and play the game destiny and the movement is refreshing, play some infinite and I can’t for the life of me understand how the developers can screw something this bad. Let me be clear, Destiny has its problems, but the movement mechanics is not one of them. When it comes to movement in Halo there are so many bull crap tweaks to the controller which all it does is put blame on the end-user for crappy movement mechanics … oh it doesn’t feel right, you need to adjust your settings, What bull! Should we talk about melee problems, strafe speed, hit detection, pathetic maps, frame rate problems, so many useless weapons, and on and on. I am sorry, but this game may get some trickle-down content and everyone will feel so happy, but I highly doubt it’s going to happen.
I wanted to really like and have fun in this game, but there are just so many problems, Halo Infinite is just repackaged halo 5 with an insane microtransaction system. That’s just my opinion, it’s how I feel.
I can see where you’re coming from but I disagree.
I liken Halo 5 to a fighting game of sorts. With all the movement mechanics, Spartan abilities, control scheme and way to utilize them all its like a puzzle that can be put together in 10 different the player has to figure out when it’s correct to configure it in the way it’s supposed to be configured.
Infinite does scale back on the moment system, simplifying the experience and making things a little more straight forward in its approach to gameplay. While there still are some tricks that can be performed, they’re far less impactful and embody how little tricks used to work in older titles.
In Halo 5 understanding complex movement was essential to combat
In Infinite complex movement is niche in favor of understanding simplified combat.
Thanks for your reply
For me Halo Infinite movement is terrible, If I attempt to melee someone, I’m more likely to die because the melee mechanic is broken. There are frame rate problems and hit detection problems which some people attribute to lag, but I do not have the same problem in other games. All around, it makes for a terrible experience, and as I stated the strafe speed is absolutely silly. I had a lot of fun in Halo 3, Reach, and Halo 4, but that is where it ended. As I said, this is my personal experience with the game, I will still play it, but it is a big disappointment. One more thing, this game needs friendly fire put back in. Cheers
They have already made some improvements to the net code. Games feel much crisper since the mid-season patches. I’ve even had some games running at 200ms that feel great.
Desync is a bigger issue. Hopefully S2 also makes some improvements here.
I actually quite like the maps.
The early ones need to be a bit generic, slash versatile so that they fit lots of game modes.
I’m sure it’s a learning curve for 343 too. Now that they have seen (and collected data) on what players are doing - map design will improve.
The two new ones coming for S2 look great.
And Forge is just around the corner!
SXS here.
Apart from the Ravager?
This could be looked on as a feature - more options to fit the individual.
But I agree it needs to be expanded.
The extended S1 has hurt. A lot. But by the end of the year we will be knee deep in S4.
Yes I’ve had games at higher ping feel better than lower ping games because this is how bad the netcode is. I guarantee the players on the other side of your 200 ping game that feels great are not feeling great because none of their shots are registering.
What? A 10 year learning curve? That’s how long 343 has been designing maps and the best they can do are cookie cutter maps that all play the same. Plus the bad maps.
XSX?
The nerfed commando is useless. The plasma rifle is useless. The plasma pistol is basically useless. The sniper rifle is bad if not useless. Oh but the AR is amazing.
