What kind of movement options do you guys prefer? And What about abilities?
This matter has been a topic of controversy and debate starting all the way back at Reach, but has only become a larger talking point since the release of Halo 5: Guardians. Sprint or no sprint? In what form? What about abilities?
I feel I should note i’ve been with Halo ever since Combat Evolved. I’ve embraced and loved every new addition to Halo. Playable elites, spartan abilities, sprinting, customization, etc.
personally, I feel Halo is at it’s best and most enjoyable with sprint capabilities. Halo 4 and 5 in particular, because unlike Reach, you didn’t need a specific ability to be able to move like a super soldier would. Instead of hopping like a rabbit anytime i’m low on shields, I can run to cover like a sensible human. As for abilities, I feel they bring a sort if spice to gameplay and certain situations, and they should stay. Halo Reach and Halo 4’s Armor abilities were useful tools and could be operated in unique ways to make combat interesting. Halo 5’s Spartan abilities made sense from a lore perspective and they are very useful in varying situations in combat. They do allow more options to combat your opponent in a more direct way, rather than armor abilities which are typically indirect.
I love Halo no matter the gameplay, but I believe all in all, Halo 4 had the best balance for Abilities and Mobility and I hope we see the same in Infinite. What about you? What are your preferences and why?
