Moved Xbox into another room and now....

… I suck! I was not exactly great before but I used to be able to aim when I sat at my desk and played on a PC monitor. Now on a sofa/40 inch TV it seems so much harder to get shots on target. Anyone else had a similar experience?

You are much better playing on a monitor because it has a lower response time big TV’s will always have a higher response time so I suggest you move your Xbox back… however their may be an option on your TV for “Gaming Mode” which might make the TV faster for games however it’s still not as good as playing on your monitor.

Hope this helps.

difference in distance (how close you are/were sitting before compared to now). i know i lack consistency when it comes to h5…everytime i pick up the controller i have a different experience. hopefully the update will fix my issues

Yes. I moved my Xbox back to the bedroom and back into my computer setup for this reason. I have played console games at my computer for over 7 years now, and changing it ended up being a BAD idea. I had two TVs in the living room (gf and I don’t know how to share) and now mine just sits there ignored and unused.

Not really in the way you’re saying but it may have to do with your comfort style of gaming. I sit in an office chair and would usually have my feet resting on something and would play amazingly at any Halo game prior to Halo 5, but with the changes of Halo 5 where it’s more fast paced, I just can’t see to get to that comfort level and play amazing anymore. This is more shown in Arena than in Warzone though because SMG is a very powerful weapon, especially when you hit REQ level 8 and can get the energy bayonet one.

This may sound stupid, but I have found the difference is where my hands are in relation to the crosshair. Possibly the stupidest idea ever out of my mouth but when my hands aren’t in the exact same place relative to my cross hair, everything is wrong for me. I had to move it back to the bedroom starting with MCC LASO because I was doing so badly.

Just need to get used to it. I play worse at my friends and vice versa

Sounds like its not just me then. Back to the PC monitor!

I think its a matter of just getting used to it.

Done the exact same thing recently! Seriously the same thing.

On new TVs latency isn’t as bad as it used to be. I picked the best TV for latency at its Time better than my friends monitor

i I struggled to aim going up to a 40" but stick with it just have to build that muscle memory! Now I’m top again on a lovely cinematic screen

hope this helps happy gaming x

its more you than you think

you are changing up your body posture, muscle memory and comfortability

you were so used to playing a certain way with a certain posture

i know this from experience myself, i have to be laying on my side or reclining in a chair because that is how i am most comfortable

i tried doing the office chair/desk set up and i could not get comfortable or in a good rhythm

i upgraded from a 32in 720p 60HZ
to a 43 in 1080p 120hz

i honestly dont notice a difference other than i have to look around the screen more

the smaller tv was easier to see everything at once and use the peripherals

It’s the response time on the monitor, you might have 1ms, 5ms even 20 and you would be okay but a tv will generally have more than that and gives you a huge delay in the time you press the button until it appears on screen.

A monitor is 100% the way forward.

Ever since I started playing games on my monitor I rarely go back to my TV because of the latency difference.
Also the comfort thing. I’m way more comfortable at my desk pretty close to my smaller monitor, than across the room from a larger TV.

I usually have a bit of trouble if I even switch tvs (one is small, the other huge).

Check the gaming settings on the TV. Some have a game mode and it will reduce the response time. I play on a 55" with game mode on and I can play just fine

I had a similar issue when i went into console gaming I basically had a 40 inch and a 32 inch tv which i used for my xbox However i found the input lag with the tv to be quite bad so i bought a monitor at 24 inch with 1ms input lag and i have to say it helped me greatly i was terrible before.

This. I play leaning in my chair so every time my stomach hurts I have to sit back to be relatively comfortable but I do way worse at the game.

what is your tv brand/model ? and how many inches ?

monitors have better response times and are a lot faster at refreshing rates and almost no input lag
you should look best gaming tvs and monitors i havent found any tv that could be compared to a monitor yet, but im still waiting for the day
a monitor is always better for FPS and fighting games
