Mouse

Bullet magnetism? Mouse magnetism? Mixing inputs was a mistake. Three populations, one for each input, and one for mixed inputs. You’re only sent into the mixed pool if you’re in a mixed party. And then… just STOP. Stop trying to balance inputs. It’s impossible and you’re only making your games worse for both inputs as a result.

I’ll go play a game that doesn’t play itself.

I like playing with all inputs, I’m just hoping for balance. I play with KBM, and I just hope to be able to compete in Halo, since the old Halos are so strong in with the AA.

Even if they achieve something resembling balance, it will be at the detriment of both inputs. I don’t understand why they can’t have cross platform and mixed input play without compromising either input. Developers are making competitive games worse by insisting on balance that’s literally impossible. I would rather that input be matched against input instead of making every input worse in a misguided attempt at balance.

Even if they do input-based matchmaking (which they should) I can almost guarantee you that a majority of the HCS will be controller players. And if that’s the case, Infinite HCS will be just as dead as H5 HCS.

Given how they’re handling mouse input, I don’t see why it would play out any differently this way. But regardless, this isn’t just about pro leagues. There are regular players who care about the competitive integrity of the game they’re playing. Maybe not many, but this is all a huge turn off for me on the PC side of the fence.

I don’t agree with this at all. The first game that can come close to balancing inputs is going to be great. We haven’t seen it yet, but it’s coming, and we need to embrace that not discourage it.

And I would be thrilled if that were Halo.

Mouse and controller will never be balanced without taking control away from the player, period. You will over tune aim assistance on the game pad* to make it competitive with mouse players, and in turn you will add aim assistance to the mouse to make it fair. If you achieve balance, you’re also reducing the skill gap and the responsibility of the player.

No one is even approaching this utopia you’re imagining. It’s never going to happen, and it’s making competitive games worse.

With that attitude, you’re right.
