Mountain Dew Double XP program is pathetic

There’s nothing worse than two corporations cross advertising each other to maximize profits. I seriously wish the video game industry wasn’t so obsessed with accumulation. Halo’s a big enough franchise as it is. Microsoft (they’re probably the ones that came up the idea) shouldn’t have to resort to gimmicks if Halo 4 is already going to sell itself.

Double XP sucks too, especially with the new progression system where you get build up your arsenal as you progress.

You guys probably won’t give a -Yoink-, but stuff like this really gets to me. Video gaming has proven to be an effective medium for story telling, but as long as people keep treating video gaming like an industry then we’ll never see it’s potential. I’m not gonna buy into a cheap marketing strategy for the sake of maximising sales. I know that I won’t cause a substantial loss in their profits, of course. I just want to maintain my own integrity.

I think you aren’t looking into this game deep enough, sir.

The campaign has an immensely detailed story, the war games and spartan ops is interconnected.

There is ALOT of content, and just because a special edition of mtn dew is out with double xp. codes doesn’t make the game bad.

It’s not call of duty, its halo.

BIG difference. Unlike call of duty, halo actually has new stuff in their game.

CoD? same thing different cover.

I agree (with some of your points, you lost me around the last paragraph), especially since this stuff i only available in North America (as far as i know).

I would much prefer double EXP weekends like in the Halo 3 days.

I’m not saying the game is going to be bad. It’s just that I can’t see something as genuine if profit is such a high priority.

I see what you are saying, but I have faith 343 has made a very great story in the new trilogy. As for being genuine… I mean you can’t blame people for wanting money. Besides, some delicious mtn dew and doritos isn’t a bad thing. So you get some double xp. with it… cool.

Idk, people look at it to negative. If you look at in a positive way it is much more better.

Mountain Dew sucks anyway. Tastes like day old Sprite.

Though I see your points of ethics, I will be buying the products, not for the Double XP, because to my dismay, my internet is not good enough to be able to play a decent game online, so I merely collect them for the fact they they are Halo, and I must have all things Halo.

you are one of the few who thinks that… to me mtn dew is the best soda out there along with coca-cola but that is off topic.

a lot of people love the citrus cherry flavor, as do I.

I don’t have a problem with Microsoft trying to get Halo 4 seen by as many eyes as possible. The more sales and profit Halo makes will benefit the franchise going into the future.

Don’t videogames support obesity enough as it is? o_O

As someone not from USA I agree… It’s unfair for yanks to get an advantage and as ranks give you more access to weapons, this is an advantage.

PS. It will just make them more obese.

I doubt it will make much of a difference since people oversea won’t get matched against US players anyway. As a European I’m not worried about this.

What about Mexico and Canada though?

This is the first thing about Halo 4 that has upset me, how is this fair?

Citrus Cherry flavored Mountain Dew. That by itself makes me buy.

The Double EXP for Halo 4 is just a very nice bonus.

Like the World of Warcraft Game Fuel, or the MW3 Game Fuel. Didn’t give a Yoink! about either one, but the Citrus Cherry flavor made me buy so much of those bottles/cans.

The only problem I have with this type of marketing is furthering the stereotype that gamers eat nothing but snack foods.

> This is the first thing about Halo 4 that has upset me, how is this fair?

Fair? Who said anything about Fair? This is a promotion to get people excited about Halo 4 while coercing them to spend money on Mtn. Dew and Doritos at the same time. What is this “fair” you speak of?

I’m just gonna do my part and ignore this promotional crap.

The “fair” he’s talking about is when you go into your 5th match (1 hour after the game’s been out) and your a SR3 with AR, Magnum, and Frag Grenades while a guy on the other team is a SR15 with a DMR, Assault Rifle, Plasma Grenades, Promethean Vision, Firepower, and Dexterity.

Yes I do get matched up… (Australia)

So, he bought loads of Mtn. Dew and Doritos. Good for him, I guess?
