I haven’t played Halo 5 in about 4 months. I got burnt out grinding for the Achilles helmet, and after my company unlocked it, I put the controller down and haven’t picked it up since. Halo has always been my go to multiplayer game, but I just can’t get motivated to pick it up again. Other than the BR nerf and adding oddball, has anything changed since August? I’m trying to motivate myself to play again, but I played Halo 5 more in a year than I did Halo 3 in its whole existence, which is why I’m burnt out
I appreciate your situation, and have pretty much gone thru the exact same progression and burnout. I stopped for a couple of months in the fall, but have resumed playing again recently.
The break definitely re-energized me, but I’ve also changed what I want from the game. I no longer play ranked and just try to enjoy the social game types. Loved the anniversary playlist, and shotty/snipers playlist…hope they come back again.
At the moment, they’ve rotated in castle wars…which I’m not a real fan of. I’m playing more Super Fiesta and working on the new weapon commendations. It’s damn funny (and challenging) trying to grab brute plasma rifles and then get kills while your opponents have ad victoriams or answers.

I do enjoy being a completionist. If there are new commendations, that is definitely something I will look forward to
I like others on here have said find my motivation by playing social ( which I have a couple of close buddies to do this with ) mainly war zone . When I’m on my own I play a mix of playlists so it doesn’t get stale btb with the new BR feels like a brand new playlist because I refused to play it with that random spread BR NONSENSE!!! Castle wars to complete my mongoose commendation which I’ve done now and shotty snipers before was extremely cool . I’m filling my campaign needs with older titles and using halo 5 just for my multiplayer because its campaign was an absolutely steaming pile of excrement ( playing reach campaign ATM). I lost real motivation especially for everything ranked because the servers , bugs and glitches fills me with annoyance and prevents me from winning or improving. It’s ok when playing golds and plats you can get away with it but I rank diamond after my placement matches and the players are too accurate to experience blank shots laggy movement and heavy aim . So I gave that part up and now just hope halo 6 fixes that and just enjoy social . Competitive play gets boring quick, stick with social have a laugh and wait for H6 !!!
One of the best ways to get back into any game is meeting a new person and playing together. There’s this one girl in my Spartan Company (and no, she’s not my girlfriend! I swear!) whom I have been chatting with for a while. She seemed really cool and I thought it would be a great idea to finally meet up and play Halo together. To my surprise, we got along extremely well. We also did very well as a team in Breakout, too. 
I’m thinking of doing the same for others who may recognize me on Waypoint.

Most of my friends have moved to different games, so you are right. It’s a whole different game when you are playing with people

There are a few new commendations for some of the things they’ve added over the past 2 years such as Wasps and Grunt Mechs. They gave me something to do, but they still didn’t last very long. Also as said above, I too have changed what I want from the game over time. Ranked no longer gives out emblems which was the main reason I played it so I mainly stick to the WZ variants and whatever the rotational playlist happens to be.

I used to hate Castle Wars but it has grown on me and I really enjoy it.
Not much really changed mate
They added alpha zombies back and halo is now a part of MLG and you get a promotional award with a santa emblem and a candy cane emblem
Edit: I also forgot some very big halo YouTubers joined str8 rippin like ubernick, proximity, and I think mint blitz
Is the halo 3 throwback playlist still available? If so did they make that permanent? I’m getting an xbox and getting back into halo tomorrow. Just wondering

They removed it awhile ago, but they said it will come back in the future. It will probably just be a rotational playlist once it does return though.
