motion tracker trick?

I was messing around one game and discovered that if you push the up button on the d-pad your motion tracker will do have gold rings. Kind of a like a beacon or its searching. It does this three times before going back to normal. Does anyone know what this does? Does it let you detected crouched enemies or tell teammates your position.

It notifies your teammates where you are.

Which has never been used by anyone because its range is too small.

I used it last night in WZFF to let everyone know where the nights were. It looked like it worked, but just can’t be sure.

I also think that a lot of players are unaware of it, so even if you did they would likely be confused by it.

I use it really often in infection to show where someone is hiding or when we’re all at the doorway to burst in ao every one can go in all together.

I thought it was only in Forge (yet again, I did just discover it myself), but it’s cool nonetheless.

They did mention it in one of the updates, a while ago.
