Motion sensor range to be increased

I feel that with Halo 5’s increased gameplay speed (sprint, spartan charge, clamber etc) the motion sensor should be reverted to its tradtional 25m range, from the current 18. I know 343 said in a recent vidoc that this was to reduce camping, but currently, if someone sprints at you for a Spartan charge, you’re dead before they’ve even been on the sensor for a second. It’s also annoying for long-time Halo players, because we have a natural “feeling” of the area the motion sensor should cover, and the Halo 5 one gives a false sense of security. I’d be eager to hear the thoughts of others on this.

Yes, I’ve noticed this as well. Needs to go back to 25 meters.

A good compromise I feel would be to increase the range, but make it so normal movement doesn’t trigger it, only sprinting, thrusting, and firing your weapon.

That’s the point of crouching, so you don’t show up on radar.

So tired of these kiddies wanting basics of Halo to be changed… Why the radar was made useless… no idea but hopefully they fix it real soon

No if anything it needs to be removed.

I very much disagree. Such settings make work on the pro circuit, but in the (unfortunately) AR-dominated games online it makes for a messy slugfest. A 25m motion sensor is fundamental to the online Halo experience.

The problem is that even in past titles, crouching really doesn’t make you move fast enough for it to be useful outside of extremely specific situations. It’s really impossible to use it to sneak up on people because by the time you get to them, they’ll have walked off.
This is especially true in 5 with all the enhanced movement.

Why “unfortunately”? I’m so tired of this attitude that the AR and other automatics are this scourge that need to be purged from halo. 5 has taken great steps to make them viable weapons and, while it’s still doesn’t take a lot of skill, makes it take more then it used to. Let’s continue to try to increase the skillgap on it instead of just nerfing it back into obsolescence or removing it from being a start weapon.

I’m honestly perfectly fine with the radar, it’s been enough for me to save myself and small enough for me to get into an enemy spawn and pull off some multis. I’ve been doing pretty good in the game so far and the radar is not holding me back

Radar was 30m I the beta they reduced it down to 18m for the games launch, normally I wouldn’t say its n issue

I think 18m is generally fine, the only real problem I have with it is that as someone else said the sprint+Spartan charge from crouching makes it irritating

But then again Spartan charge+ R has essentially become the sprint double beat down from halo reach, its gotten real old real fast (at least to me)

Firstly; since when should a game like Halo be made around the ability to sneak up on people? Yes, it is an element of the game, but Halo’s unique selling point against othwr FPS is that you can actually have a battle with someone, rather than the typical scenario of whoever sees the other person first gets the kill.
Secondly, I say ‘unfortunately’ because the half of the Halo community that prefer te more accurate weapons (the skillful half) have always played second fiddle to those that prefer that AR. We’re not asking for the AR to be removed, but juat have it like the Beta where you star with BOTH. That way everyone gets a choice.

It does feel by the time someone shows up on the radar they are almost right next to you, especially if they sprinting or charging. Added range on the radar would make it more useful.

Agreed. At the moment it does not serve its purpose. A slight expansion in range would make for more actual battles.

yes, i feel secure even though i’m not, for example this guy was litterally behind a wall but i thought he was over the other side of the street in plaza and it got me killed, me be sad.

Not really sure if I like that idea

Yeah, it should go back to 25m.

I agree, it is my only real issue so far with MP.

I’m surprised halo vets by now should have a feel when an enemy is behind u no need to rely on it so heavily

This guy, can you believe him? I should be able to rant and complain and have things changed! I kid, I kid. These people complain way too much.

Remember back when Hale CE first came out? There were no patches. You got what yoy paid for and you made it work. The times where you could rock a Blood Gulch match with a sniper and the pistol? Imagine the amount of calls for gun nerfs that would happen today…‘Nerf magnum plzzz, its too gud’, or ‘only n00bs use magnum/sniper/shotty’, ‘Nerf the shotty, it’s a 1-hit kill!!!’

Adapt to the radar you have, not scream for a patch.

I couldn’t agree more.

implying that Halo:CE didn’t have glaring balancing issues…

Just because it shipped with the game doesn’t mean it is perfect and shouldn’t be fixed. I honestly feel like I am being hit by a truck while walking across the street sometimes with the charge. It doesn’t even take much more than a second to go from radar distance to being shot in the face after losing shields to a charge.
