Motion Capture Confirmed

In this video

At about 2:49, it is confirmed that Halo 4’s cutscenes will use motion capture, as CJ Markham is listed as the motion capture supervisor.

That’s good because motion capture really allows for the realistic movement of characters, making them feel more human. If you guys didn’t know, Reach used motion capture as well, making the Reach characters feel closer to you as a human in that particular sense. To me, at least.

Was this ever not going to return…?

Not necessarily confirmed, more of an imply, or an affirmation

Good to have confirmation, but not much of a surprise. It’s become an industry standard.

It would be cool if they did LA Noire style mo-cap

I hope not. It looked so awkward, the heads on those bodies.

Yeah. Halo 3’s animation was still great, even though the movements in cutscenes seemed to get extremely jumpy towards the end of the game.

Look at Resident Evil 5’s cutscenes with their AMAZING motion capture. That’s the best it’s gonna get.

Nevermind the motion capture; it was obviously going to be in the game. I’m more excited about the audio. If the music in that video is a taste of what we’ll be hearing in Halo 4, it’s going to be incredible.

AGREED! I really hope that’s Halo 4 music.

Reach had motion capture so this is not a surprise.

Cool. That combined with newer graphics and some amazing music and sound effects is going to make a polished game, in terms of audio and visuals.

Crosses Motion Capture off Halo 4 wishlist

It is it has been confirmed by David on these forums and Frankie on Neogaf.

I didn’t really expect them not to use motion capture. It has really become the norm. It also accomplishes the same thing as hand animation, just faster and better (also cheaper).
