Halo 5 has got to be the most thoughtless Halo experience I have ever had for the following reasons.
~Horrible spawning makes the game feel chaotic as it constantly spawns me behind people and spawns people behind me.
~Horrible spawning makes map control near impossible.
~increased player mobility makes map control near impossible.
~increased player mobility cuts the value of power weapons (least valuable in the series)
~Motion tracker is unable to deal with increased player mobility.
~Making a well placed grenade throw is almost always negated by boosters.
I don’t hate this game at it’s core. I just think it needs some work to be as strategically deep as past Halo titles. This feels too mindless. I keep waiting to have that moment when I finally figure this out. Watch a few multiplayer matches in theater mode. You’ll get a kick out of this nonsense spawn system. I think it’s safe to say Halo 5 has the worst spawning since Halo CE (great game~HORRIBLE spawns).
I’m just frustrated and disappointed. Have a great night!

Although there are many other problems, this is the worst part about H4 and 5.
Strategically, the games just aren’t there.
Halo 4 and Halo 5 are Michael Bay, vs. Classic Halo being Quentin Tarantino. Classic Halo was just more engaging, deep, and something I cared to sink my teeth into and commit to getting better at.
This is a great halo game and I have had a lot of fun with it… But, i usually never quit and I don’t ever quit in arena but in warzone I quit and rage so much and I have never before. For me I think arena is fine, but warzone just gets me to ticked off. Also it’s very moral defeating having to fight a something losing battle for 20 minutes.

As someone who has played a LOT of every Halo game, the spawns are not THAT game breaking in either one (certainly nothing could ever compare to the death-trap spawns in CE). 3 and Reach were just as bad, if not worse, as spawn trapping could be achieved in nearly every game setting for every map (especially BTB and Invasion).
Don’t get me wrong, I do get you to an extent… I’m not saying the spawns in 4 or 5 are perfect or even good… They’re not, especially in Arena (Swat is the worst) for 5 and competitive game modes in 4. But respawning into BTB (H4&5) and Warzone (H5) maps are all pretty lax and allow plenty of time and room for the vast majority of players respawning (Well over 95% of the time).
Also, at least sprinting and decent starting weapons negates some of the poor spawn locations in 4 and 5. I’m not disagreeing to be a blind fanboy- I just think that there are other more pressing issues to complain about than spawn locations in the latest installments to the franchise.
Dont really have much to say on spawning, some games I have no problems others its terrible.
Mobility is fantastic, it keeps the gears moving in a match, that way a team still has a chance to make a come back even if they dont hold the map. A good player can use their abilities to counter anothers strategy whether it be to camp or to spawn kill, the mobility gives the players options and good players learn the options and choose accordingly.
You can destroy any enemy with a power weapon, they are pretty predictable, heck use your abilities to counter theirs, than use the power weapon, think on your toes.
Motion tracker is just to small of range, widen it by 10 meeters and it will be fine.
Use the grenade to push them into an open area for you to shoot and kill, the grenade can be used as both a support weapon as well as an offensive weapon.
The abilities create more strategy due to them making the players think on their feet to make split second decisions that could get them the point or turn the tide of the match, options is the key, options=strategy

I’d love to hear various answers to that question, though the OP already kind of touched on it.
Map control seems pretty iffy to me. Most matches seem to be just people sprinting around with the AR. I’m still not sure if there’s any deeper strategy to Empire than “Stay at outside and slay everyone.”

Not only that but the grenade physics are absolutely garbage

I really can’t think of another way to say it. Games all feel identical to one another. Combat feel generic.
The only other thing I can think to add is that clamber and boost allows players to zip around the maps in so many ways that choke points can almost be totally avoided or just over come by speed alone. This makes varying geometry play too similar. Map and area specific tactics don’t have the variety they did in past Halo games.

LoL ~ You said all that. Not necessarily right though.
Mobility allows players to over come many strategic challenges the same way. Sprint, boost, or clambering to deal with choke points, enemy in an elevated position, avoid “good” grenade throws, avoid power weapons, etc…
Counter power weapons is easier than ever. Just sprint and/or boost to easily overwhelm a sniper, easily confuse a shotgun wielder, easily force a guy with rockets into a potential suicide, etc…
Yes, you can destroy someone with power weapons. I have maybe had it done half a dozen times in all the games I have played. So their is how player mobility destroys such great potential for variety tactics to many different situations. You can do virtually the same thing. The combination of increased mobility and a bad motion tracker creates a “cure all” when it come to competitive challenges.
Grenade use is worse than in Halo Reach. They are chucked in bunches at people in cover. Halo 2/3 had it right. (I’m not saying I want to go back and play a vintage style game) The skill/art of the skillful frag toss is all but gone. Grenade use in Halo 5 is a mindless practice. You can no longer reliably use them to set up double kills or get yourself out of a jam. It just DOES NOT work that way in this game.

> -Yoink- I have to think when playing on where to go and who to kill. Maybe since you don’t think you don’t play well?
~Bad spawns
~Mobility that allows players to be anywhere almost instantly
~Low range motion tracker
You can make theoretical guesses at best. Not like making educated decisions in past Halo games.
Edit: I HATE, HATE, HATE, bringing up and comparing performance on the forums, but… my k/d is much higher. So… I play well. Also, try playing in Diamond or Onyx.
Map control and positioning are non-existent. Like the other guy said, people can get and be anywhere, anytime, with little effort because of the -Yoink- movement mechanics.
You don’t have to play smart. There are so many options, it’s almost impossible to predict anything, and therefore the game gets lucky and random.
And yes, every match plays the same because map design doesn’t really matter.

You know, what would it even mean to play smart in Halo 5? Just stick with teammates I guess. Too much guessing.
