- This game has become nothing but base camping and fortifying. You literally get punished for even moving the map. Is anyone else having this issue? Seems like this scenario happens constantly.- 1. Get guy one shot- 2. Guy thruster packs into base- 3.Teammate pops out from roasting marshmallows and kills me- Having a bonfire in a base is not good teamwork. It is camping and takes no communication skill. What exactly is causing this? I’ve played a ridiculous amount of halo and I have never seen this on a halo game. All these elements that are supposed to speed up gameplay have slowed It down
Unfortunately I noticed this as well, and the Thruster pack is to blame. People are all blindly complaining about sprint, but sprint doesn’t cause many major issues such as the one you described above. Everyone is running from gunfights with the thruster pack. There needs to be major tweaks to that feature
I can also say they same on Turth, once the team gets the sword. Forget about it, might as well loose. I really don’t like that a win is so dependent on the power weapon. I HATE it. We are forced to use the power weapon to win, if not you will e grilled and served with a McRib. Or maybe I just suck. I dunno.
Pretty much. BR starts play like absolute poop in Halo 5. These maps (Regret/Eden) are trash too.
The game is nothing but a peek-a-boo contest for who can get the most 2v1s in their favor.
yes, this is easily the slowest paced halo game ever released. thruster, awful map design, and insanely easy to use weapons kill the pace.
ironic since its also the game where the character moves the fastest
I like this game a lot but they need to give the person who plays by them self more of a chance that’s why there was a bigger skill gap now anyone can use AR BR DMR like nothing so have fun by yourself if they want new people to come why are they making it soooo team based

thruster is just one factor as to why the game plays very slow even at a remotely high level.
The biggest problem is map design. maps are extremely large and cluttered. despite not having sprint or thruster, halo 3 was significantly faster paced because maps were open and allowed more engagements. less places to sit and hide meant players were more willing to take the risk of moving up. halo 5 maps ARENT arena maps. they are call of duty style maps. they dont promote movement. they were designed to “look cool”
You guys are hitting the nail on the head right now. If you are 2v1 the odds you win are very SMALL. It annoys me. That’s not Halo… Halo was getting the odds againts you and letting your skill doing the talking…
Many times it took me a whole minute to figure out where everyone was again on Midship.

its not team based
this is easily the most individualistic game to date. the amount of clutter and objects that block sight lines prevent any large scale amount of team work. with the insane amount of ways to maneuver around the map with clamber and thrust, gameplay is very geared towards lone wolf

Very true, these maps are extremely camp happy since some of the map objects are just so damn big, but the camp happy map design mixed with Thruster Pack is hell. People can just camp a high point on the map, and avoid EVERY SINGLE grenade with Thruster Pack, and if they are ever a couple shots down, they will never stick out the fight. They will always boost back into their hole, and let a team-mate clean up. Its very frustrating

umm what? halo has always been about baiting and switching. you lose 2v1 in any halo
the problem is this game does such an awful job at implementing it. people can be completely out of position to bait and switch yet due to sprint and thruster, bad positioning doesnt matter because you can cover ground extremely quick - compensating for bad judgement and positioning and making it super easy to avoid danger, help team mates
game is awful

This game actually has the largest team skill gap yet; at least against half competent opponents. Escaping 1v1s is absolutely trivial due to the horrid maps / thruster / sprint, so the team that wins isn’t necessarily the one with the best players on it, but rather the one that manages to coordinate well enough to get the most 2v1s in their favor.

yea, im not disagreeing. thruster is a terrible mechanic. most seasoned players have been saying that from the start.
The BR starts are causing this.

Thruster is a great overdue addition to Halo.

It’s not just the BR starts, it’s the combo of BR starts / awful maps / thruster pack / sprint.

Yep nullifying grenades is a FANTASTIC addition to Halo…It needs major tweaking to stay in the game
I played a lot of the beta and I can surely say that it is better to establish map control than to camp in a base. If the enemy is doing that try do adapt and create a counter strat.

i disagree. team skill is just so disproportionately based on micro level team work (ie baiting and switch) opposed to macro level team work which was the bread and butter of the older halo games but impossible in halo 5 due to the awful CoD map designs. it just seems like there is a lot of team work required because its literally the only way to kill someone before they can escape with thruster.
team work was significantly deeper in halo 3. due to the fact that you couldnt sprint/thruster if you were out of position to help your team mate, you had to know exactly how to place yourself based on your teams location to be able to help them or bait/switch with them. you dont need any of that knowledge using team work in this game
