Most play Halo for PVP only?

I just realized in online pvp matches, how about 95% of the people whose service record I look up, do not even have the campaign completed (not even on easy or normal). I am curious, do most really only play HALO for the multiplayer, not giving a crap about its awesome lore?

Probably because they know the campaign sucks or they’re smurf accounts.

What do you mean with smurf accounts? Poeple do this in Halo? Also, the campaign does not suck. Sure, it is no Halo CE or 2 in terms of story, but compared to most other games out there today on all platforms, it still beats those games in storyline by a milestone.

With smurf accounts they mostly dedicate themselves to play arena and play with weaker players so what’s the point of playing campaign if it doesn’t involve shooting other players.

Campaign:
-Misleading ad
-Bad story telling
-Bland characters
-Fight a total of 7 Warden Eternals which is pretty repetitive
-Jul 'Mdama a lot people were not happy due to him being killed in the first mission

These are my opinions why people don’t finish or bother with the campaign.

Other games on other platforms like… COD and BF? I would bet $100 halo has a higher percentage of player base playing the campaign compared to either of those games. A lot of people just don’t care to play campaigns.

I think people exaggerate here big time with Halo 5 being bad. It was not bad, it was a good campaign compared to so many other games out there…I mean, in Firefight I am top 2 tanks usually in each game so far and I clearly see that people that did not play the campaign, struggle bad to understand how to deal with certain enemies (especially bosses), just saying, at least firefight people should have played the campaign. Then again, I suck at pvp, was never good with controllers vs others.

Yeah, ibam sure more would play the campaign if it unlock armor or what not. I only played it on easy. Again if it had split screen my son and I would have played the … out of it no matter how badly it sucks. Just a fun bonding thing

Compared to games from other franchises, sure, the campaign’s story was okay, I suppose. But compared to the standard set by previous entries in the original trilogy, as well as the story 343 delivered in Halo 4, it was a huge disappointment. Combined with the misleading advertising that hyped people up so much and the lack of split-screen co-op, there’s a reason it gets a lot of hate.

yeah. no split-screen sucks :frowning: but campaigns unlocking stuff as an incentive to play it is bad. The modern day gamer needs to stop wanting to have rewards for every single thing…it is just cosmetics!

I’ve played campaign a few times. Too easy compared to others. I can do a kill everything run on Legendary in 6-8 hours.

That’s… typically what people buy Halo for, or any shooter.

I could say more, but there’s really no need.

I have always bought Halo for the story, and then stuck around for the multiplayer… Seeing as how Halo 5’s campaign was so terribly disappointing, I no longer have any interest in Halo 6. It may end up having the best multiplayer of the series, but without that initial engagement, it all means nothing.

Not to mention that many players bought Halo 5 with the intention of playing through the campaign in split-screen with a family member, loved one or friends, as is pretty typical of Halo games. But seeing as how they only realized that the game had no split-screen, they may not have bothered with the campaign at all.

Of course, I’m sure that many people buy the game solely for the multiplayer, but I wouldn’t say that it’s nearly as much as 95%.

I’m in the minority that likes the H5 campaign OP. I played it first on Legendary in Coop 4 players. A little later I went through it on Solo Legendary. Then I finally played it over and over again to find all the Skulls, Intels and complete all the achievements. It was neat when they added some achievements a couple months ago. It gave something fresh to do besides Warzone and Arena.

I realized at one point that playing Warzone FF and Warzone is kinda playing a watered down campaign (besides killing people in Warzone) so that’s when I went back to campaign to get the achievements and I had fun just like before in old Halo’s. It’s not the best campaign and the no split screen definitely sucks big time, but I still like it. I’m also level 148 in Multiplayer. I’m just one of those guys that really loves Halo haha.

When I first started playing Halo I can say yeah I was only playing for the multiplayer. A friend of mine introduced me to Halo on original Xbox with Halo 2. All we ever played was multiplayer. I never even played campaign until H3 and that was only because of getting achievements. I never even gotten into the actual Halo story until MCC. Since MCC launched so broke I concentrated on going through all the campaigns again in order and getting achievements. Now I am really into the story so I play for both campaign and story.

My perspective on this:

halo is actually known as one of the few fps that has a good story to it. It has lore to it, books written for it although 343 have heavily focused on it (which Doesn’t “have” to be bad so long as it’s not effecting things negatively. It’s story is one if the main draws to halo. However it’s multiplayer to me is where it’s longevity came from. It progressively growed in replayability with additions if forge, enhanced customs, more modes over the years. Unfortunately that multiplayer longevity has declined due to it regressing more than progressing .

Essentially im saying halos multiplayer is what substained it longevity wise but it’s story can’t be ignored (minus h5  as it was generally one of the few stories people actually looked forward to in the fps genre. Halo needs both to thrive, it can’t just live off one or the other.

I’m a gentleman, I never touch online until I have finished campaign.

PvP, THAT’s where the customization is. I get to see the armor & colors I chose, & no, I’m really not into being the Chief (still like him better than Locke, stay Luke Cage man), when I can have my own Spartan, similar to what was done in Halo: Reach. PvP is also where you earn the points TO get (or try to) armor that you adore, & has well tracked stats for (some) competitive people who like to follow that sorta thing. (yeah I do.)

Not me, the campaign is key. Multiplayer is the fun bonus.

I played part of the campaign on Heroic and couldn’t finish it

halos campaign ended with halo 3 for me. i wont play the current or any future games campaign
