Until its too late. The number of people posting is minuscule compared to the number of people who actually still play. Reason being is that most people don’t go on Waypoint to read weekly updates that nefariously hide playlist “updates” under some cool Halo 4 video. That leaves the rest of us dissenters in the position of being the “vocal minority”. There have been many an apologist coming here stating how these updates are jolly, how we should stop whining, and how 343 can do no wrong. Thats fine. But make no mistake, people who own these maps will be furious. I especially pity the saps who only own CEA and want to do some BTB or FFA. Never again. Thats what you get for shelling out your hard earned cash brother.
Then there are morons like myself who purchased DLC thinking that they would ever be matched with others who have them. To this day I can count the encounters on those amazing maps on my right hand. The only way to consistently encounter them is by going on these “nearly barren, irrelevant playlists that need to go”. I can kiss my 20 dollars on the two map packs and 40 on CEA good-bye.
“Don’t be so overly dramatic Lil B! Halo 4 is creeping around the corner. These consolidations are necessary to maintain a healthy lifespan and to better ensur…eh”.
Great point, because thats the best way to maintain customer relations and to give them confidence in shelling out cash on Halo 4 DLC. I mean why should we in any way think it may be a waste of time considering the amount of times we encountered Reach DLC regularly. I’m sure the matchmaking algorithm will be much better!
Yeah…ok.
I never search Anniversary anymore, and I can count the amount of Squad DLC games I have had on one hand. I still play the DLC a healthy amount. Or it at least comes up as a voting option(never playing KoTH on Battle Canyon as long as Jetpack exists).
TYBG cutting these playlists is not gona increase the population in the others by a noticeable amount. Besides if we paid for the dlc, we deserve to be able play it.

I have had all the DLC basically since they came out (pre-ordered Halo Anniversary, so I definitely had that day 1…), and other than Firefight on Installation 04, I have yet to play any of them outside of Custom Games or the Squad DLC and Anniversary playlists (and that almost never happens either)…

Same here
I also play the DLC on customs quite a bit. I’ve never eally been one to play DLC in Matchmaking, mainly customs.
I used to play a lot of DLC when they had the DLC playlist. I haven’t got to play them as much when they started cutting the DLC playlist though.

That’s too bad. I was getting DLC choices all night. These are just from last night, but we were getting DLC voting options in the majority of our games.
It helps to search with a team.
The dlc situation has always sucked. Better than halo 3 where chunks of your game disappeared unless you shelled out though. Besides every time dlc comes up, it always gets voted over for -Yoink- asylum or something anyway. Its like people dont want to play what they paid for.
Its not like 343i hasnt recognised the problem. Why do you think they are including the first THREE map packs in the H4 LE this time? They want a reach style system, but with decent dlc penetration this time so that it actually works.

I can corroborate that, unfortunately.
Sorry but I just got lost reading the main post. So you dislike the DLC maps and people that play Halo CEA? To me the DLC maps are only good for making machinimas and nothing more. Yeah I rarely see them in Matchmaking but I guess the reason is that everyone that you are playing with has to have them right? Also you mentioned Halo 4 DLC maps and how you are going to buy them? If you don’t already know they only come with the Halo 4 Limited Edition (or unless I don’t know that they will give away the DLC maps later on to the public that didn’t buy the L.E.) but I still think they are really great maps even though I’m just going to concentrate on the campaign.
Hey B, good to see you man. I hardly ever post here. You’ve got some good points.

It is ridiculous what they are doing. But honestly, the way to support the halo community before launch is to make the maps half off, even for a week or something. Halo 3 did it and the community thrived. Also
>implying Reach is good
>implying we aren’t going to get jew’d out by MS and 343 throughout the next 10 years
Haha, love you bro.

I’m pretty sure reach already did discount them at one point.
Anyone remember Halo 2 in 2009? Towards the end of it’s days, every darn playlist on there must have been DLC required. The DLC was also free by that time. There was no wasted money, no wasted map design and hard drive space. That’s the way I think they need to do it. Towards the end of a game’s life, make it all free and required.

You cannot make maps that have achievements tied to them free. Halo 2 had no achievements on Xbox, therefore it was able to have DLC free. This is also why Halo 3 and Halo Wars’ DLC packs are not and will never be free.
there’s a jetpack in H4 so you’d better get used to it
