Most overused weapons

For me its the BR, BS combo you’ll find everybody using.

Battle Rifle. Period. But Understandably.

Yeah, definitely the battle rifle, and the bolt shot is the most common secondary

BR and BS.

Battle rifle and Boltshot overcharged seem to be the most overused.

Definitely the BR.

Absolutely BR.

BR for sure. I’ve had too many games where everyone just uses the BR. Those games were not fun.

One and only BR.

BR for sure. There will be at least 4-5 people using the BR in every match you play.

BR and boltshot are the most common and for good reason. If I see someone running any other loadout I just assume they have a poor understanding of the sandbox. Load outs just give players an opportunity to put themselves at a disadvantage. It’s very rare for a good player to use anything other than BR/BS.

I like it, if everyone uses the same thing it’s like not having loadouts at all. Which is a good thing.

BR and PP got quite common lately imo

I don’t use BS out of principal. Magnum for the win.

The battle rifle and the boltshot. I hate the boltshot so much.

The DMR

I feel like I encounter the Boltshot far less than I used to. Maybe it’s just because I stick to longer ranges and avoid getting in Boltshot-distance.

I will say that the BR is, by far, the most used weapon. However, I’d blame that on the fact in how iconic the BR is, not the strength of the weapon itself.

I’d blame it on it being overpowered. The BR is the most popular weapon and no one bats an eye. When the DMR was the most popular weapon before the title update everyone lost their mind.

I’ve had too many games where I’m forced to use a BR just so I can keep up against everyone else in the game who is using a BR. It’s especially bad on Simplex.

I think the issue with the DMR was, it was the best in EVERY situation. Close, medium and long range battles while the Battle Rifle was just awful in every situation.

Following the Turbo update, the DMR and Battle Rifle now both fit their niche role.

The DMR still dominates at long ranges, alongside the LightRifle.
The Battle Rifle dominates at medium range, with the Assault Rifle dominating close quarters.

That’s the main reason why no one complains about the Battle Rifle being the go-to gun now, especially outside of Big Team playlists, it’s the best gun for the map sizes in Halo 4.

In short, I wouldn’t call it overpowered, I’d just call it a good gun for its intended role following the update. You could argue it has a ton of aim magnetism, but many would argue back that all weapons do.

Battle Rifle, Battle Rifle, Battle Rifle, Battle Rifle, Boltshot, and Battle Rifle.

Even on the largest maps I’ll face teams using nothing but Battle Rifles. Use a DMR and you’ll lose to a BR due to the BR killing in 4 shots to the head as opposed to 5 for the DMR. Similar issues for the Carbine. The Light Rifle normally gives you the best chance to win a headshot duel, but only if you’ve got the right range. Automatics have no chance at all except for the SAW, and that’s a power weapon.

The issue at hand is that the BR dominates at every range as opposed to just mid range like it’s supposed to.
