Most OP weapon in the game...

First off I wanna say that 343i did a great job, in my humble opinion, in balancing almost all of the weapons. The BR, DMR, Carbine all have their strengths and weaknesses and what map is chosen determines what weapon I use. I feel all of the power weapons are mostly balanced as well, except for one…the needler. This dinky looking weapon CHEWS away a shield and health with its incredibly high rate of fire. At medium to short range I can only get 3 shots off with a BR/DMR before I go down. I was wondering if anyone shared similar thoughts on this matter or if I’m totally on my own. Its not a game breaker as I can change tactics and engage from farther away, but I feel that 343i game the needler much more firepower in Halo 4 than Bungie did in Halo 3 or Reach.

Comparing the Needler with weapons like the Binary Rifle and Incineration Cannon, the Needler really doesn’t seem to be that OP at all. I’d say it’s roughly on par with the SAW, if not a little less powerful. Besides, it can run dry of ammo quickly after all. Of course, this is just my viewpoint.

I agree with this point. It does run out of ammo quickly which is a huge drawback.

Both the SAW and the needler seem OP to me, but the needler is more understandable to me since it’s pumping you full of explosive needle shards. The SAW on the other hand, just tears me down every time I come across someone with it. The needler is a more iconic weapon of the Halo series and has been around and had it’s share of ups and downs so it doesn’t bother me that much…

> Im suprised no one mentioned the Boltshot for use as a starting weapon, people camp with it and take you out with a charged blast, my friend picks one up all the time and fights round corners, then as they come through the corner hes already charged up, bang your dead

^ this is correct.

The bolt-shot is a ridiculous secondary. Soooo good.

They are POWER weapons, they’re meant to be like that.

yeah they are power weapons, and there is too -Yoinking!- many of them

I guess i never really thought of the needler as a power weapon…

If you ask me, it is the Boltshot. It absolutely kicks -Yoink-.

Compare the Needler to a Rocket launcher, not a BR. Every weapon that’s not a starting weapon is considered a power weapon now.

Also, I think the boltshot sucks -Yoink-. Not viable at all, Magnum FTW!

The Needler is a power weapon in H4.

I don’t see peoples problem with it… It’s a power weapon as is all ordnance drops. Of course it’s going to be OP. That’s like saying the Rocket Launcher is OP…It’s because it is! You only really have enough ammo for three kills anyways. Out of all the power weapons, I see it as less OP.

thank you, this is the one gun i feel needs to be nerfed a little. it isnt too powerful but the magnetism needs to be toned down a bit

It is funny ppl complaining about power weapons. Saying they need a nerf or something. Power weapons designed for little chance of surviving or using them to get your team to victory. I see no problem. Pretty soon ppl will say certain armor pieces need a nerf cause there to kool looking. xD

> I guess i never really thought of the needler as a power weapon…

For me the needler as a “panic” weapon, a decent backup for when i need a quick spray and pray kill and usually as a replacement for my magnum or bolter when ammo is scarce.

is it cheap? oh hells yes, in a HUGE way

is it OP? naaa its ammo consumption rate is insane and unless you get the vast majority of your shots into a target and thus an explosion the odds of a kill is negligible.

that said it IS an iconic Halo weapon and considering at one stage it could be dual wielded with devastating results you have to note that the current incarnation by comparison is surprisingly balanced.

All of the weapons are balanced except the stupid cannons that kill you with 1 charge across the map.

The needler has always been this way… Its balanced by the fact its not that common and uses ammo quickly. I’ve yet to be killed by it once

since when has the needler been considered a power weapon?
