I’ve been playing Halo for years now, and as much as I enjoy it now, there was a time where I was constantly playing. I’ll take you back to my early 20’s (I’m in my mid 30’s now) when my roommate would have LAN parties, and Halo 3 was the game of choice. We spent hours playing BTB, SWAT, and CTF. Those were my most memorable moments, and one it’s because of those moments, I became such a fan of the Halo lore.
Mine would’ve been doing customs with he first guy I talked to on Xbox nights on end about a year or two ago and still do every now and then which also led to the creation of discount doom and a lot of other spin-offs, good times with a decent amount of salt.
Recently I was playing a head-to-head match and i managed to hit a 360 quick-scope on some kid and he told me that he was going to quit Halo after that lol

Tbh all of halo from ce to odst is memorable
Finally getting to Inheritor rank in Halo Reach and donning my haunted helmet.
When trying to get a ghost related achievement on longshore in Halo 3.The map just came out so everyone was trying to get the ghost so I was waiting for the competition for the ghosts to die down. When I finally got the ghost I didn’t see the opposition grab camo until he was hijacking me. I quickly went from frustration to revenge as I drove him off the side of the map into the water. I laughed because if I wasn’t getting the achievement that easily neither were they. Honorable mention. I was on Valhalla in the middle and I threw down a bubble shield right as the enemy threw a plasma grenade when it bounced off the bubble shield and stuck to him.
LAN parties are my most memorable. Back in 2002 on the original XBOX, my roommate and I along with 6 others would play in separate rooms using a 20ft Ethernet cable.
Most weekends, beer, from 9pm till 4am. Good times. Wish I could go back to those days.
Definitely would have to be the nights where all the guys hopped on Halo Reach to play some customs.

Yep
While screwing around in Halo 2 on the mission Delta Halo, I kept blowing up the Scorpion outside of the compound that you’re supposed to enter on foot. I repeatedly would stand on top of the already smoking tank, and then throw a grenade down. The following explosion would be so big, that I would bust out laughing. At one point, the explosion sent me so high up that the background of the level disappeared, and I could see Master Chief just floating in space. I swear this is what I saw, and to this day I have yet to successfully replicate it in the MCC, even with skulls on.
If you want to think about something really sad though, at one point, whether it was on Halo 3, or Reach, or 4, we partied up with our buddies for one last time to play Halo, and we didn’t even know it. Feels kind of eerie playing multiplayer on the MCC. I feel like at any moment I should see my partner come around the corner and no scope me as I yell in frustration. But it never happens. Instead I sit there waiting for someone who won’t know my signature hiding spot. And if I check the scoreboard, I won’t see that familiar GamerTag anymore.
Lone wolf mission, at least for reach
I’ve been playing since 2001 and of all my fondest memories, I’d have to go with those associated with Halo 3. Between the midnight launch, the hype, Xbox Live, LAN parties, tournaments, all-nighters, and achievement hunting, it was the best. I actually held a LAN party two weeks ago for part of my best friend’s Bachelor Party. 10 of us played Halo 3 on Xbox 360’s. It felt like we had traveled back in time. It was incredible.
When me and my brother were reciting Halo 2 cutscenes from memory
For campaign it would be at the end of CE, watching halo blow up. Iconic and epic.
For mp, it would have to be a game of reach squad slayer I played back when it was the current game. Within the first 2 minutes or so all 5 of my teammates quit and left me alone with a double digit point deficit. I was playin over at a buddies house, and I told him what had happened and he told me I should quit the match. I gave some epic speech about how no, not only am I not going to quit this match, I’m going to win and make them regret the day they ever faced me. By the time the match timer ran out it was 1v5 and I won by 6 points. To this day I never quit, even in last man situations. You never know what you can accomplish if you don’t try.
LAN parties, pizza and cola.
Two moments:
Having my family introduce me to halo through coop (picture big family of cousins aunts and uncles all sitting around a big box tv with 4 remotes taking turns)
Middle school me finding the halo book box set at my local mall’s books a million
Halo was never the same for me again. Those books have a way of deepening the lore
I’ve loved Halo for years. I’ve played the games, read the books, watched the movies, and listened to the music. But ONE Halo moment has always resonated within my souls since I was a little kid. I had Halo: The Master Chief Collection, but I always adored Halo 3. And i adored The Storm. The open-air and factory battles, the close-quarters and sniping…it was astonishing how well put together the level was. It has always been my favorite, and It’ll always be my favorite
During 2008 and 2009 I used to play with my friend on this place where you payed per hour to use an Xbox, to play Halo 2. On one occasion we were there before the place even opened at 8 am, and more often than not other people came to play on the other Xbox but ended up with us, 4 people sharing screen, for some reason the place did not had an Ethernet cable to connect them.
The day I got home from a long trip, and got to relax, and play Halo Reach for the first time ever.
I was playing defense Halo 3 CTF 1- Flag on Valhalla beach side. They stole my flag when I was down in the base. Snipes wasn’t up yet but power drain was, as they hopped in their hog and made their getaway through the canyon towards bubble shield spawn. I grabbed the power drain and made a beeline for the man cannon. After catapulting off, I hurled that bloody drainer towards bubble shield spawn at the very peak of my altitude! The EMP BARELY nicked the hog- killing its engine and buying me just enough time to position myself for one good frag toss. My frag landed right next to their tires, flipped their athes ovah, I mopped them up using my BR & then returned my flag.
