Since it’s Valentine’s Day, what’s your most memorable piece of dialogue between Chief and Cortana? (Can be just one of them saying something to the other, too)
CHIEF: So how do we get out of here?
CORTANA: I’m not coming with you this time.
(Halo 4 Ending) This one pulls at my heartstrings every time T_T
That whole “Welcome home, John…” Cortana says before “sacrificing” herself at the end of Halo 4 always gets me.
Another good moment is at the end of Halo 3, the dialogue follows:
Cortana: If we don’t make it…
Chief: We’ll make it.
Cortana: It’s been an honor serving with you…
Though…when you actually think about it…Cortana is essentially an AI made with flash cloned copy of Dr. Halsey’s brain. And…in an odd sort of way…Halsey is kinda like John’s mother. So, it’s kinda like Chief is walking around with a little AI copy of his “mother” in his head.
“You found me. But so much of me is wrong… Out of place. You might be too late.”
“You know me. When I make a promise…”
“You keep it. I do know how to pick 'em.”
“Lucky me.”
“I know what you’re thinking and it’s crazy.”
"So, stay here."
“Unfortunately for us both, I like crazy.”
“Just one question, what if you miss?”
"I won’t."
Beautiful music plays, Chief opens the airlock
Humor, camaraderie, and badassery, all wrapped up in a short exchange that perfectly showcases their relationship.
Probably normie but the “I like crazy” interaction. It’s just cute.

Cortana:“This thing is falling apart!”
Chief : "It’ll hold."
Cortana: “We’re not gonna make it!”
Chief: "We’ll make it."
Cortana: “Pull up! Pull up!”
Cortana: “You did that on purpose, didn’t you?”
“Sleep well?”
”No thanks to your driving, yes.”
”So you did miss me.”
That’s always just stuck with me. No clue as to why.

Chief and Johnson “Thank you.”
“I know what you’re thinking, and it’s crazy… Unfortunately for us both, I like crazy.”

And to think, Chief’s only concern at the beginning was getting Cortana back to Earth and Halsey so she could be saved. Total heartbreak moment there.
