Most legendary energy sword in the Halo series?

Tell us about what you think is the best energy sword from every current Halo game that allows you to use it.

Well, lorewise I guess that Halo 5’s Prophets’ Bane would be a legend itself, seeing as how it’s The Arbiter’s personal sword, and has components of the one he used to kill the Prophet of Truth. Obviously, it’s also better than any other energy sword.

If you meant which normal energy sword tops all others in gameplay, I remember having the most respect for the Halo 2 energy sword. Damn thing had the range of an assault rifle and the stopping power of a shotgun to match. Maybe it’s nostalgia but I always made a point of not depleting mine during Halo 2 campaigns back on the original Xbox.

Agreed on the Halo 2 energy sword. Nothing comes close in bad-yoinkery to hearing that thing fire up when you deploy it in the game. I wish they kept that violent crashing noise instead of the elegant-like noise it has now. It’s the equivalent of lightning in a bottle, and should sound as such.

I had no idea about that lore bit. That’s really cool actually.

Like others have said already, it’s got to be Halo 2. It is one of my favourite iterations of the Energy Sword. Whilst I didn’t really use if in the MP as I wasn’t much of a duelist so to speak, it was very helpful in the campaign, plus the sound just tops it off. I will never forget my time slashing away at the Flood in H2’s campaign.

I remember coming across that glitch just by playing the game which let you have infinite ammo for the sword in the “second part” of a two-level set, eg., Arbiter and The Oracle. I used to play those two level sets over and over, ensuring I had a depleted sword at the end of the first level.

Technically, the only Legendary enegy sword is the Prophet’s Bane. But in all seriousness, I would say the Vorporal Talon from Halo 5. I mean c’mom! You can boost TWICE.

That would explain why some of the players I fought in Halo 5 matchmaking managed to close the distance between us so easily.

It could also be that they aimed in. That causes a greater lunge.

Same here H2 but also real fan of the Bloodblade that red energy sword. With H2 sword style design looks great.

I find that story very cool, I didn’t not know of that. Where would I find some more details of that story?

Prophets bane anyday

Halo 2 energy sword has, and will always be my favourite.

Halo CE’s, Energy Sword Type 1, I believe it was called. Only the proper individual can wield it. Thought that was a neat reasoning as to why it disappears, in the campaign.

I would say that the Halo 2 Energy Sword is by far the most powerful as it allows for some relatively crazy tricks like Sword Fly and Sword Cancel (some versions of Halo 2). It did in addition to that have a relatively long base range compared to the other iterations of the Energy Sword.

H2 energy sword was especially cool to me after finding out about the speedrunning tricks that people have found by using longer range weapons in tandem with it.
