Most/Least Favourite Mission From Each Game???

Simply answer the question and add the reason why. My most/least favourite missions from each game, and the reasons for my choices, are as follows;

Halo 1/Anniversary: Most Favourite; Silent Cartographer - A big wide open area full of Covenant with dozens of possible tactics, ensuring no two playthroughs are rarely the same.
Least Favourite; The Library - Flood filled corridors; Halo at it’s worst.

Halo 2/Anniversary: Most Favourite; Uprising - The Great Schism begins in style, with a thrilling canyon set Ghost chase and spectacular arena based Wraith battles.
Least Favourite; Quarantine Zone - Atrocious path finding.

Halo 3: Most Favourite; The Ark/Covenant (Yes, I bent the rules. DEAL WITH IT!!!) - These missions have everything; sniping, corridor shootouts, stealth, multi vehicle battles, MASSIVE tank battles, dogfights AND multiple Scarabs!!!
Least Favourite; Cortana - Better than the Library and Quarantine Zone, but still falls victim to dodgy pathfinding.

ODST: Most Favourite; ONI Alpha Site - A spectacular siege where you truly feel at the mercy of the Covenant onslaught.
Least Favourite; Data Hive - A great mission BUT just SO ordinary compared to the rest.

Reach: Most Favourite; Tip of the Spear - Similar in scale to the Ark/Covenant, expect huge vehicle battles and intense firefights. The background activity is gorgeous too (A DOZEN SCARABS MARCHING TOWARD TWO DOZEN SCORPIONS!!! -Yoink!-!!!)
Least Favourite; The Package - The final firefight goes on WAY TOO LONG!!!

Halo 4: Most Favourite; Infinity - The Mantis section is F**KING SICK!!!
Least Favourite; Shutdown - Tries to replicate New Alexandria from Reach but falls short due to a lack of combat during the journeys between locations.

Halo 5: Most Favourite; The Breaking - Gorgeous visuals, the best music in the game and the ending ripped my heart out when I first saw it.
Least Favourite; EVERY ‘TALKING MISSION’!!! - I play Halo to shoot stuff, not walk around for two minutes and talk to people.

Halo: Combat Evolved/Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary:
Favorite: Assault on the Control Room (because SCORPION!) or The Silent Cartographer (because it was the only mission I really had fun on Legendary in CE)
Least Favorite: The Library. Reasons why have been stated several times by others.

Halo 2/Halo 2 Anniversary:
Favorite: Metropolis (because Scorpion)
Least Favorite: Outskirts (because Legendary Jackal Snipers)

Halo 3:
Favorite: The Ark (because Scorpion)
Least Favorite: Cortana (somehow I found it more fun on later runs, but it was still my least favorite)

Halo 3: ODST:
Favorite: Coastal Highway (because Scorpion)
Least Favorite: Data Hive (Drones can eat -Yoink-)

Halo Reach:
Favorite: Long Night of Solace (because Sabre)
Least Favorite: ONI: Sword Base (dislike the layout)

Halo 4:
Favorite: Infinity (because Scorpion and Mantis)
Least Favorite: Forerunner (the second core where you have to fight the Covenant always pisses me off on Legendary)

Halo 5: Guardians:
Favorite: Argent Moon (because Blue Team and Banshee combat)
Least Favorite: The Breaking (stupid -Yoinking!- triple Warden. At least there’s a skip)

Halo 1/Anniversary: Most Favourite; This is gonna sound crazy… but I love The Library. It’s difficult, yeah, but it’s just complete chaos and super fun because you really don’t have any strategy, just go Rambo on a bunch of terrifying space zombies.
Least Favourite; Keyes. For whatever reason this mission was a -Yoink- for me to complete.

Halo 2/Anniversary: Metropolis. Super fun scorpion beginning, ends with you jumping onto a Scarab and taking down the whole crew. What’s not to love?
Least Favourite; Gravemind. Like Keyes, a nightmare for me on high difficulties. Quarantine Zone is a close 2nd, but it had its fun parts.

Halo 3: Most Favourite; The Ark. Like OP said, this mission had it all and was super fun.
Least Favourite; Cortana. Another annoying Flood level. Not as bad as some of the others, but I’ve had some ragequits. Storywise though, fantastic.

ODST: Most Favourite; Mombasa Streets. Technically not a real single mission, but exploring the ruins of the city, finding audio logs and evading Covenant patrols was so different from everything else in Halo up to that point and was really cool.
Least Favourite; Tayari Plaza. There was really nothing wrong with this mission, it was just kind of forgettable and had nothing special in it, compared to the other missions. Bonus points for the inclusion of Chips Dubbo, though.

Reach: Most Favourite; Long Night of Solace. Introduced the Sabre and space combat and was just a blast. Plus I think it’s the mission that truly set the tone of the game, watching your squadmate and friend die and realizing the inevitability of Reach’s fall.
Least Favourite; This was actually really difficult, I’m gonna have to go with New Alexandria. Still a solid mission, but I didn’t find the Falcon combat entertaining.

Halo 4: Most Favourite; Midnight. The culmination of the story and some of the best moments in Halo. From the Star Wars-esque Broadsword sequence to the Didact’s defeat, to Cortana’s sacrifice, an amazing mission all around.
Least Favourite; Forerunner. It just had no substance to it, go to one place, activate a thing, go to another place, activate another thing.

Halo 5: Most Favourite; Tie between Swords of Sanghelios and Battle of Sunaion. Both featured absolutely gorgeous environments, and creative, fun gameplay. Easily the best missions in the game by a country mile.
Least Favourite; The Breaking. Oh my god, The Breaking. Where do I even begin with this? This mission was the rotten cherry on top of the -Yoink- milkshake that was Halo 5’s campaign. The gameplay was boring and repetitive, the scenery wasn’t particularly impressive, the boss fight with the 3 Wardens made me want to punch a hole in a wall, and the story made me want to use Brian Reed like a battering ram to make a hole in a wall. I could go on, but things might get ugly.

Love this topic :+1:.

Halo: Combat Evolved:
Favorite: The library. I got so angry at this map trying to beat it on legendary the sensation I got after completion was like none other. Also, it was definitely one of the most frightening maps in all of halo. The dark atmosphere with flood jumping out is TERRIFYING.
Worst: Halo: I was so close to choosing Attack on The Control Room but at least that one didn’t have any Marines. Enough said.

To tired to do the rest I might later.

Halo CE(Collectors Edition)

Most favourite:(The last one)I can’t remember the name but I love it.

Least Favourite:Two Betrayals(Too hard when I was young and brings bad memories)

Halo 2

Most Favourite:Metroplis(Come on no need to describe it)

Least Favourite:Delta Halo.(I never completed it)

Halo 3

Most favourite:Halo(Warthog run.)

Least Favourite:The storm(Too annoying)

Halo Reach

Most Favourite:Everything(Best campaign ever)

Least favourite:Nothing(Like I said above)

Halo 4

Most Favourite:Shutdown(Officially flying a pelican and nice skip)

Least Favourite:Midnight (Loved the broadsword but hated everything else)

Halo 5

Most Favourite:Evacuation(Very fun)

Least Favourite:The Breaking(Everyone’s favourite mission in halo 5.Like everything said above)

That’s all

I literally just spent an hour trying to complete Gravemind on Heroic. FKING HORRIBLE!!! Keyes can be a real b*h too. Fantastic shoutout to Mombasa Streets. I, like many I’m sure, completely overlooked it; it’s magical.

(Only listing the games that I’ve actually played campaign all the way through. With some of these, I had a hard time deciding, but I forced myself to pick one for each.)

Halo: Combat Evolved

  • Favorite: Halo (aka Arrival at Halo) - Least Favorite: Two BetrayalsHalo 2

  • Favorite: Delta Halo - Least Favorite: Sacred IconHalo 3

  • Favorite: The Ark - Least Favorite: CortanaHalo 4

  • Favorite: Requiem - Least Favorite: ShutdownEDIT: I’ve noticed a theme here! All of my favorite missions I’ve listed are when you arrive for the first time on a new Forerunner installation! Coincidence?

Halo CE/Anniversary: Most Favorite; The Two Betrayals - Those enormous areas to battle, combined with air vehicles, hunters, scorpions, flood, it was an overload of the Halo senses in the best possible way!
Least Favorite; The Truth and Reconciliation - This level starts out amazing- the stealth tactics with the sniper rifle… The infiltration of the covenant ship via its own gravitation systems… But after the wow of the first engagement with golden elites and the nerves from the second hunter engagement subside… That’s it for this level- you’re left with a long, boring, and repetitive level chaulk-full of the same type of small-unit engagements with the covenant again and again and again as you head up floor after floor of the ship… As climactic as it began to valiantly search for your captured Captain, this level completely lost me in boredom whilst aboard the T&R… I still remember this level as one that takes some of the steam out of the sails after the first few fantastic levels in Halo CE.

Halo 2/Anniversary: Most Favorite; High Charity - Maybe I like this one so much because I once held the Legendary speed record for it… Maybe it’s because of the teary goodbye exchanged between Chief and Cortana… Maybe it’s because it’s an extremely quick, run and gun level that still sets the player into the mix of larger-than-life battles taking place between different foes as you make your way up… I also have a tendency to like to go “up,” for some reason- like heading straight to the top of a castle to victory, this level really always had me excited to beat it. To be fair, there are TONS of fantastic levels in Halo 2 that I could pick- Metropolis and The Great Journey come to mind straight away- Uprising was great too, for throwing players into the heart of the Covenant Civil War. Also who didn’t love Delta Halo??

Least Favorite; Quarantine Zone - Confusing objectives and difficulty knowing even where to go- this level loses steam in a big way in Halo 2.

Halo 3: Most Favorite; The Covenant - Yeah, who didn’t love witnessing the Arbiter silence the voice of the Covenant with his blade?? I know it’s just a video game but it almost felt like witnessing a piece of history in a strange sort of video game way… In any case this level had an epic build up and epic finish that was both memorable and iconic.
Least Favorite; Halo - Now let me preface with one thing- I found Halo 3’s campaign to be the best in scale, graphics, and cutscenes… (Overall I like Halo 2’s campaign a little better but 3 is a close second) There are only a couple levels total and each one seems to have its own strengths (and weaknesses for some). Cortana is a bit off par in terms of replay-ability compared to the others but linking back up with your solid blue companion by wrenching her away from the grip of the Gravemind was fantastic and never gets old. That said, Halo starts out fantastic- the uphill battle against wave after wave of flood with SGM Johnson by your side delivering the pain train with the Splaser is pretty awesome. And, sad as it was to see him go- SGM Johnson’s sacrifice and bravery on his way out was also just as memorable. But to essentially copy and paste the same “Warthog race” ending from Halo CE was unoriginal and lazy. I remember playing it thinking “Are you kidding me? This again??”

ODST: Most Favorite; ONI Alpha Site - Because who doesn’t like blowing stuff up?? You get to blow up a LOT of stuff here, taking a LOT of Covenant with it…
Least Favorite; The Streets - The streets of New Mombasa were fantastic… They were haunted- patrolled by Covenant monsters that occupied the city that were responsible for wreaking absolute havoc just hours earlier- with evidence in the form of bodies, blood, and haunted messages thrown across the walls of the buildings… The Streets were a stunning reminder of the true barbarity of the Covenant. That said, they just got old and repetitive real fast. It was a great idea but the final product was executed a little sub-par- there was way too much running around feeling lost in the never-ending charade of small-unit engagements in those streets. And too much distance between objectives when it became clear that the streets held zero plot progression.

Reach: Most Favorite; Tip of the Spear - Massive scale… Massive engagements… And this level had me feeling that the stakes were massive- I really liked this level and it still stands out above a bunch of mediocrity in Reach. (Those cutscenes were amazing too and really helped set the pace of this up-tempo level).
Least Favorite; Lone Wolf - How was this even a level? Okay, got it… You have to come to grips with the fact that your character is going to die in defense of Reach- but this was a crappy way to send Noble 6 out. I still feel like I had that battle anyway…

Halo 4: Most Favorite; Reclaimer - Because “Skip,” “Skip,” “Skip,” that’s why! This may be the only level in any Halo game that beat SLASO with zero shots fired. Skips on Legendary and LASO were some of my favorite memories of Halo 4’s campaign.
Least Favorite; Dawn - What a slow way to open up a Halo game… Other than Cortana’s extremely… Aesthetically pleasing new look (to be polite), there wasn’t much here that even felt like a Halo game. This level was anti-climactic for me after all the hype and build up around Halo 4.

Halo 5: Most Favorite; The Battle of Sunion - Because the Arbiter is just awesome- getting to fight alongside of him once again felt like old times (even though it was sadly very brief).
Least Favorite; Meridian Station- every talking mission was boring but this was the longest one and therefore the most boring of them all… This was the single most boring Halo level that I have ever played.

Summary: There are a lot of great levels to pick from… It was harder to pick a favorite level in CE, 2, and 3, because there were so many fantastic memories from so many levels in between… In Reach, 4, and even 5 it sort of flips- there are only a few notable highlights with mediocrity and poor execution spread throughout. I’ll still take mediocre Halo over no Halo- I still liked 4 & 5 for instance I just think those campaigns could have been executed so much better.

The sense of discovery is a big part of Halo.

Indeed it is! I haven’t played Halo 5’s campaign yet, but I hope I get that same feeling from Sanghelios and Genesis. I at least know that I will try to explore every nook and cranny of the Sanghelios levels as I can. Also hope to re-explore Delta Halo and Requiem in their title levels when I get there in the MCC.

CE
Favorite: Truth and Reconciliation
Hated: The library.

H2:
Favorite: Regret maybe
Dislike: The great journey boss fight is awful

Halo 3:
Favorite The ark or the covenant. Probably the covenant. Though both are amazing
dislike: Cortana. Hate getting lost on this one.

ODST:
Favorite: Kizingo BlVD
Least Favorite: uplift reserve

Reach:
Favorite: Exodus
Dislike: LNOS. I like the on foot sections, but hate the ship combat.

Halo 4:
Favorite: Composer
Dislike: Requiem.

Halo 5:
Favorite: The first mission on Sanghelios where you try to find the arbiter. I think it is called Swords of Sanghelios.
Dislike: non-combat missions. Particularly the first one.

Halo: Combat Evolved

  • Favorite: Assault on the Control Room - I would have been your daddy. - Least Favorite: Keyes - It always felt like this level was a bit rushed. Halo 2

  • Favorite: Outskirts & Metropolis - Fighting the Covenant on Earth. - Least Favorite: Sacred Icon - Not much going on in this level.Halo 3

  • Favorite: The Ark - Like playing Halo all over again for the first time. - Least Favorite: Floodgate - Too short.Halo 3: ODST

  • Favorite: Prepare to Drop - For that epic intro cutscene. - Least Favorite: Mombasa Streets - Too much wandering around. I really liked the soundtrack, though.Halo: Reach

  • Favorite: Long Night of Solace / Lone Wolf - Both of these levels are very emotional. - Least Favorite: NoneHalo 4

  • Favorite: Requiem - 343’s art style for the Forunner architecture is amazing - Least Favorite: Shutdown - Flying around in the Pelican is cool, but other than that it’s such a slow level. Halo 5

  • Favorite: Guardians - Because the game is finally over. - Least Favorite: Everything else - Because it sucked. Shoutout to the actors and artists for the Halo 5 campaign. The game is gorgeous, but the story and level design is just awful :-(.

By the way this thread is open to Monitors too, so to any who read this; feel free to reply.

Really??? Surely there must be one mission from Reach that you like less than the others.

You get that feeling from Genesis definitely, not so much from Sanghelios.
