Most interesting thing about the e3 teaser is

that they didn’t call it Halo 5. The fact that they’ve already come out and said that they were starting a new trilogy and then called their first game Halo 4 implies that the last two will follow a similar naming structure and be called Halo 5 and Halo 6. So why are they just calling this one Halo? Will it be an expansion of some kind? A side game? That seems unlikely since it shows the Chief after the events of Halo 4. What do you guys think?

Its still going to be called Halo 5, I just think they just called it Halo because everyone already knew there would be a 5th and 6th installment.

Nah. I don’t know what it is but that isn’t it. They’ve never done that before and it doesn’t make sense.

Could be just an announcement that Halo is coming to the Xbox One.

Could be. And would be if they weren’t specific about it being a particular game. If they just said Halo content in general is coming to the One and showed a Halo logo splash screen I’d agree, but they showed a teaser for a specific Halo and talked features (60fps, dedicated servers).

Halo… ONE!

O_O

Now, that would be pretty -Yoinked!- up.

I wouldn’t look too much into it. It made me raise my eyebrow as well, but IMO it’s just for marketing reasons.

Maybe it wasn’t a trailer for the game… [T.V show]…?

> I wouldn’t look too much into it. It made me raise my eyebrow as well, but IMO it’s just for marketing reasons.

Maybe. But like what? With every Halo game they’ve ever announced they’ve shown a (sometimes CG) teaser like this followed by the official name of the game. What reason could they have for calling it Halo 5 but having to withhold the 5?

> Maybe it wasn’t a trailer for the game… [T.V show]…?

That’s what I originally thought but they talked about game specs.

> Maybe it wasn’t a trailer for the game… [T.V show]…?

Couldn’t be for the TV show, or she wouldn’t mention the frame rate.

lol And never mind. I was just scrolling through my facebook feed and saw that the official Xbox page posted the trailer and said

“The Halo universe has expanded to include the Xbox E3 2013 Media Briefing. Watch the trailer for Halo 5, coming to Xbox One.”

My bad guys. Kill the thread. haha

lol

Actually it is kind of smart from a marketing perspective. The video game industry is constantly gaining new customers. If you call it Halo 5, that could turn some people/customers off because of the thinking that they need to have played the other 4 games to understand this one.

This way, the new video game customer(parents who are getting their kid their first gamming system) will pick up “Halo” for the X1. Not thinking/knowing that this is the 5th game thus eliminating the thought that little Johnny will not understand it because it is the 5th game.

Does that make sense?

I actually like the thought of just calling it Halo.

Although the video 343 posted on the home page of Waypoint does have this as a caption

“Final title to be announced at a later date.”

my guess is they want it to stand on its own for a new system with a new batch of consumers.

this wasnt as critical with halo 3, it wasn’t that far off of the initial halo release. but by the time halo 5 is released its going to be near 12 years.

people see 5 they think there is way too many games that have passed and its too late to jump in.

Like what Apple did with the iPad? They just gave up on numbers and started calling each new iteration the new iPad. lol I was actually hoping microsoft would do that with the new Xbox.

I think this is 343’s idea of a Half-Life 2 Episode 2 except its Halo
