Honestly it blows my mind, in some levels you have really crisp lighting and beautiful materials which have great specular detailing and then some maps you have really inconsistent lighting with blotchy lightmap and horrible UV stitching.
Best example is the warzone bases on noctis. Have a look around and you will find horrific UV seems and what looks like a poor attempt at global illumination in unity.
Honestly I don’t know if this engine is just poorly optimised or is the Xbox one to blame but Halo 4 didn’t have these issues yet Halo 5 does? I can barely believe the same team who did Halo 4s art is the same people who did Halo 5.

Battlefield and Battlefront have very very big maps and they dont have that detail issues…

BF4 has framerate problems on XBOX ONE…Call of Duty is 720p on XBOX ONE and framerate sucks in campaign. Battlefront is better , i can give you that.
Well I personally think Halo 4 is the best looking in terms of art design and optimization. So when Halo 5 came out with its random almost cell shaded like environments I was absolutely disgusted. Just using the other Warzone maps as examples(since you mentioned Noctis) Raid on Apex 7 looks like a Nintendo Wii level, Stormbreak is horribly desaturated and ARC’s lighting is off. This game obviously was rushed(considering 90% of the negative feedback on here) so its apparent that they didnt take any time to polish the maps. Fathom is the only map that comes to mind that appears to be fully polished. Even Truth/Regret are like fighting in a fishbowl of purple.

That’s all well and good but it is in some arena maps as well. I understand warzone is more taxing especially with the AI but even the arena maps are inconsistent.

If you talk about Breakout and BTB maps they are made with Forge. Original maps have good details…

Detail isn’t what I’m talking about I’m talking about inconsistent lightmapping and poor UV mapping
I don’t know, the enemy still looks like something I need to shoot. The only time graphics ever matter to me is when they directly impede my ability to play the game, which I have yet to experience in Halo or any other game.
This is why I preferred 343 to just go with 720 instead of this dynamic resolution because they could of then put more power into lighting, more detailed textures and other graphical updates.
Yeah, hopefully when they do make Halo 6, they figure out a better way to do it so it doesn’t look so choppy sometimes. Especially during the cinematics. There were sometimes where the models were wigging out or ‘shaky’. I would have preferred it to look smooth.
You do realize the specs for PS4 is not much different and if you go with the ram argument, you do realize they are using the old outdated ram vs xbox using the more powerful ram. Then again they are both under powered compared to the PC.

PS4 uses the newer GDDR5 ram, which is better for graphical bandwidth, while the XONE uses the common DDR3 which is much worse for graphical output. GDDR5 is significantly faster, but has a higher latency. DDR3 is slower and has lower latency. Both have their advantages and disadvantages.
As far as raw computational power goes, PS4 is around 1.8 teraflops, while the One is around 1.3 teraflops.
