Of course the dying star is good. It’s a shoot and mini explode. But the standard just requires accuracy. I find it behaves similar to the brute plasma rifle, fantastic at popping shields but unless you can nail that headshot it is crap at taking down health

Yeah, they nerf the needler a while back, the hailstorm in particular was very overpowered…

I don’t have any memories of using the standard weapons back then, just that nice plasma rifle. I was young and thought it was the coolest thing, shooting energy instead of bullets.

That’s how I feel about the standard LightRifle, with it being great for breaking shields, but awful otherwise. It’s the aim that always threw me off. I’ve adjusted my aim settings, so I’ll see if it gets any easier.
My favorite thing to do with the Brute Plasma Rifle is to fire at an enemy until it overheats to take out their shields, then thrust straight into them to kill with a melee.

The LightRifle is very fun to use on Sanctum as Red team, for when Blue team controls the Temple and enjoys spamming the man-cannon to the garage, just whip out those 3-shot kills on them hopeless ducks! It is more so fun with the Barbed Lance, though I wish I could get them more often.

Hands down the Spartan Laser. This gun was a force to be reckoned with in Halo 3, fast charging, powerful and accurate. However in Halo 5, it takes too long to charge, its not strong enough and flat out it is a pathetic gun in war zone unless you can wield engineer or endgame!

Fire in bursts. Holding down the trigger continuously doesn’t help accuracy or kill time.

There isn’t really a way to get good with it, at least not that I found. First 5 times i had it, died without a kill every time. Suddenly, next day, I was emptying the gun without missing a single shot. I don’t know how to get good with it, I don’t know what I did, probably just play casually and don’t worry.

If you are used to constant firing, fire until the shields break, pause, then fire again. Same strategy with the brute plasma rifle, but you can miss more with the storm rifle before forced venting. Chances are, after you’ve broken the shields, the other Spartan is expecting death and is a little frantic. This means the won’t be the best aim (exceptions to most explosive weapons).

Honestly, I work best with the standard rail gun. I time my shots to it’s charge time and if the charge is different, it throws me off. The air burst is okay, but I never notice it. If I miss, then it’s usually because I was way off, out of the air burst trigger range. The variants are, of course, better, but I just got used to not having/noticing them.
