someone needs to play the game. you earn it through PAYING for it lol
Strawman argument. He’s not mad that he can’t get “a few cosmetics”, people are generally upset at the combination of paywall, extremely limited free options, obnoxious restrictions on how you can use something once it is unlocked, and artificially restricted progress to frustrate players into buying level skips.
I find it much more interesting that someone who claims to be “in the industry” seems to be intentionally misstating the argument.
[Most expensive “FREE” event ever.[/quote]
I don’t know about that, I think Bungie topped that in year one of Destiny 2 with the Dawning event, using that as the game’s end-game content.
I think they are taking tips from Bungie so expect a lot more of this because it’s more “important” to have a shop going for most things in a game nowadays than creating a quality type of game for the player base that has made the company millions…
So when and if Firefight is added, guess what?
When and if more events are added, guess what?
I’m sure that they found a way to cash in on the campaign as well, and won’t even be surprised if they found a way for the forge world.
Isn’t most of the cost things - the store and all that - up to Microsoft? It’s bad, don’t get me wrong, but I think many are barking up the wrong tree.
Blockquote
I mean, if you’re too insecure to say “i’m confused,” I guess it’s fine to type a bunch of extra words that mean the same thing.
Fall Guys has better events LMFAO
someone needs to play the game. you earn it through PAYING for it lol
First of all, I’ve already unlocked the core. Second, you can pay to get the event core? How?
Strawman argument
You can’t say strawman argument and then one line later explicitly mention the cosmetic paywall that I’m referring to.
obnoxious restrictions on how you can use something once it is unlocked, and artificially restricted progress to frustrate players into buying level skips
This is a thread about the event, pumpkin. Are you talking about the battle pass? I don’t see an option to buy level skips for the event. Second, what are the “obnoxious restrictions on” how you can use something you unlock during the event?
I find it much more interesting that someone who claims to be “in the industry” seems to be intentionally misstating the argument.
I’ve already said there’s some crappy practices in this thread and elsewhere. I was being snarky to a guy who alleged that 343 was deliberately waiting for people to buy store items before issuing a statement about the event. I didn’t misstate anything.
How about no mtx in halo and make this a paid multiplayer with campaign
It’s clear: people are pissed! …But how many of the pissed people would provably spend enough additional money if 343i changed the monetization to make them happy? If not enough certainty to make a financial case for system overhaul, then this is the way things will stay. This is a case where curing anger is not the incentive; assuring rate of revenue is. I’ve given up on the whole cosmetics thing for this game for now, so I no longer have energy to be upset, but a company making a sea change to f2p will not change course just to assuage anger unless the numbers actually compel it.
It is quite disappointing, a lot of the event armor is locked behind a very steep paywall, the entire progression and unlock system seem too focused on charging players as much as possible it feels like a system that is not meant for the player, it is meant for profit and its sours the game as a whole
I’m glad it’s expensive. I don’t want everyone being able to buy armor that I worked for, so make them suffer by paying the price. Some armor might take 10 hours to get, so why should someone be able to buy my 10 hours worth of work cheaply?
I have been looking at this ‘event’. I have walked away with the feeling, that 343 have done even more damage, with their attempt at damage control.
enough people buy them for our opinion to be irrelevant
LMAO. I’m stealing this quote to use on some people I work with.
Here’s how I understand it, if I’m wrong, please educate me. The ‘event’ has 30 levels. Each day you can get 50XP, by playing a game. Then each week, 750XP, via the three challenges (that’s witout a battle pass). This ‘event’ runs, Nov 23-29 2021, Jan 4-10 2022 then Feb 1-7 2022. How do you get to the point of being able to unlock the Level 30 reward?
Your daily match challenges don’t count. The only challenges that progress the event pass are the event fiesta challenges. The ones with the banner and star.
The other thing that gets me although it being highly unlikely say someone just firing up the game for the first time buys one of the bundles close to the end of the event because the won’t get to do the challenges. They won’t even get to use the bundle because they don’t have the armour core. Everything should be in the event pass.
I think you level up the Tenrai pass by completing the challenges. The actual XP from the event will level up your battle pass
There should be some hard challenges that unlocks the good stuff. Like. Get a time limited Perfection medal. Or a a time limited Overkill.
