Most anticipated Halo game?

What Halo game were (or are) you the most excited for after you saw the first glimpse of gameplay footage?

I’d have to go with Halo 3, personally. So much excitement after E3 2007. Of coarse, I was already at maximum excitement levels after that in-engine teaser from E3 2006.

Will be moved to “General Discussion”.

Halo 4 =) /topic

After the first glimpse? Halo Reach. As someone who started his Halo adventure in the fiction, the idea of seeing Reach was an indescribable sensation.

Halo Reach surprisingly enough.

Oh, I didn’t read the entire OP; definitely Halo 3 after release, but the gameplay at E3 2007 wasn’t quite as good as I was hoping for.

So Halo 4, actually.

Certainly more as a fan than the bandwagonist I was when Halo 2 was announced; I barely knew the games back then, I was just a whippersnapper maturing out of kiddies’ platformers and OMG BIG SCIFI SHOOTER BEST GAME EVAR APPARENTLY I’LL FOLLOW THIS NOW.

Halo 3

Halo 3 and Halo Reach - I swear to God, I’ve never been so excited in all my life than with Halo 3 and Halo Reach and the weeks coming up to release.

Halo 3 - its reveal trailer at E3 2006 is my favorite video game trailer of all time. I’ve been a fan since CE, but I was someone who just played and never really got on the pre-release hype train until close to Halo 2’s release. I was hooked on Halo 3 from that trailer, and became even more hyped through seeing it in action.

Yeah, Halo: Reach would be my runner up. I really loved the idea of playing through Reach’s destruction and, man, did that first in-engine trailer look breathtaking. To be honest, I was kind of disappointed when it was revealed that you weren’t playing as Spartans from Fall of Reach and MC wouldn’t be in parts of the game. This made me somewhat less excited for the campaign than I should have been.

After playing through the campaign, I’m glad they went that direction for the sake of the narrative. The characters were really allowed to personally develop more than any prior Halo game’s cast had. Bungie definitely learned a thing or two about concisely developing characters (rather than just factions) from Halo 3: ODST. Now the idea of a game directly based on Fall of Reach seems laughable.

The only thing that disappointed me in Reach’s campaign is that the player never gets to interact with, or fight alongside, Buck. Seeing as how he was there on Reach, I felt it was a wasted opportunity. Here’s hoping he’ll play some part in the second trilogy.

Holy… ARCADE!!!

It’s me! Rapidfires zero or General Smiles! GAH!

Nice to see you again, but conversation seems a bit off-topic.

Halo 3 was kind of let down for me but it still gets my vote.

I was most anticipating Reach, but not for the gameplay I saw, but because of the promise of a more personal, character-focused, story. We were going back to one of the great tragedies of the Human-Covenant war. The novel was still fresh in my mind and I was so excited for those who only played the games because they would finally get an idea of just how Spartans operated together. How close they were. How much they’re not ‘robots’ when looking out for their own. That, coupled with the great tragedy of the titular planet was exciting. Unfortunately, it’s what made it the biggest disappointment 'cause Bungie didn’t deliver.
