Do you guys think that there should be more master chief games after infinite? (Assuming he doesn’t die)
He won’t die. At least not yet.
And Infinite is a 10 year ‘service’. There will be heaps of DLC coming over that time to continue the story. Most Chief of course… but I would also expect a lot of side stories; Blue team, Osiris, maybe even the Arbiter.
I think so. But I remember Reach and ODST, plus how old Chief is (of course, he is not only a Spartan, but one who has been evolutionarily advanced by The Librarian’s imprint - dude could go for centuries now maybe), I think there has to be a future where, as with the end of Halo 3, he moves on. Not necessarily dead, but “out there” beyond this awful grind that has been his whole life.
There was a time in the fiction where he could have believed himself the last Spartan. That always hit me. Now he has Blue Team back, I would want them to get some peace, some life together beyond the constant fighting, hard fought victories, bitter defeats and losses.
I’d guess the Spartan IVs were a big part of that: a bright future of resurgent humanity, where players really can pour themselves in to their own character, like Reach, but even more.
But I don’t live in 343’s brain. I haven’t a clue, just hopes…
Whatever happens, we better get some closure on The Librarian’s gift. If all it did was protect him from The Composer, that’d feel quite shallow to me. There is A LOT of possibility there, Eden’s making a run for it, more Milkyway to explore than humanity or the Covenant have reached.
We will probably see more Halo video games happening in future installments. I am still hoping that 343 Industries can start planning to do the Halo spin off video games. There is a lot of stories they can tell in the spin off video games.
I really want to see the Arbiter spin off video game going in a style of Ghost of Tsushima and The Last Samurai especially if there is Energy Sword duels in the game. At the same time, I also want to see the Jerome-092 spin off video game that is set after Halo Wars 2 and before Halo Infinite.

On the Jerome point - feel like that’s unlikely timing as we’ll be rejoining the action on The Ark just about the same time as Infinite when Divine Wind launches in October.

My gut instinct is that part of what H4 and H5 was trying to achieve was to broaden the franchise beyond just Master Chief (the fact that they mostly dropped Arbiter who had been the othet majorly impactful protagonist is perplexing). If that is continued, I hope what we see with Infinite and its longer term campaign expansions is the better establishment of that more ensemble feel and others who can anchor a DLC campaign (potentially with Chief as a supporting character?).
If he doesn’t die or retire, yes of course. Will be sad when the day inevitably comes.
They must of look at rainsix siege and their 10 year plan (a game i play but only solo)

I thought they were planning a spin off game or has that been cancelled?

Right now there is no words on whether 343 Industries will do the Halo spin off video games. I think they will start planning to do the Halo spin off video games especially after Halo Infinite coming out.

Absolutely this. I would love for side story DLCs in between Chief campaigns.
I hate to use the MCU as an example because it feels like that’s what everything is trying to do these days, but it feels like it could really work for Halo. Especially considering the community’s reaction to new protagonists in mainline Halo games. Osiris and Arbiter were initially shunned by a lot of people because they took away from Chief’s focus. Whereas Noble and Red team in halo wars were beloved when Chief was nowhere in sight.
I genuinely think giving characters their own time to shine before bringing them into Chief’s story could help with this a lot.

I still think that this is how 343 Industries will do with the Halo video games. They will do the next 10 years plan for Halo Infinite in a similar way like how Kevin Feige did with the Marvel Cinematic Universe. We might see 343 Industries planning out the next chapter of Halo video games. They will have their own Phase One, Phase Two and Phase Three especially if they are building up to a chapter where we could see Jerome-092 teaming up with Master Chief and Arbiter to fight Atriox.
Id rather they retire Chief when Steve Downes retires.
I remember a few years ago, possibly before Halo 5 or right after Halo 5’s release, Frank O’Connor said that Chief’s fate for Halo 6 (now Infinite), was in place. Unless things have changed of course. But I’d expect Infinite to be the last Master Chief game, given Steve Downes is 70, and Infinite being a 10 year game would allow him to wrap up his time in the series at about 80. Unless he wants to keep going of course, but I’m sure Infinite will be the end of Chief’s story.
Honestly it depends upon how 343i handles this game. Lore wise(at least the lore 343i hasn’t butchered) there is plenty of room for spinoffs that doesn’t directly involve the chief. In my opinion what’s more important is that 343i succeeds in making Halo feel like Halo and not a combination of other games that are currently successful. If 343i failes to deliver a Halo experience, I honestly don’t know how much longer this franchise will stay afloat.
Ok guys, thanks for your opinion!
Of course!
I think this should be Chief’s last game. I do think Halo itself should continue. But about 5 years into this, I’d like to see Halo move on to a new generation of soldiers. Or maybe completely stop. The galaxy has to reach a peace eventually. And I think Infinite can set that up to end.
Considering Infinite will be a 10 year game. And Xbox Series X has a 8 to 10 year life span, this will be this generation’s only mainline Halo game. (Which means Halo 5 and MCC’s Xbox One Servers have about 12 years left to be online before they retire.)
Funny thing to think about:
GTA V had the 360, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
Halo: Infinite will have all of Series X|S and possibly some of the next gen.

We can’t even reach peace as humanity on one planet IRL. I think galactic peace is gonna be a bit harder goal to arrive at.

IRL and a video game are two different things. We have no control over life here IRL. But 343 has full control over the Halo franchise. Peace is easily atainable for a video game. If the story is well written, of course.
