More than 1 playable character from now on?

In Halo 2, we saw the two sides of the War, and that’s it’s not so black and white. There is good and bad on each side, and we got to see both the Human and Covenant perspective. Now 343 is bringing this back in this game to see both Chief and Locke and their characters, and their sides. Do you think that possibly this should be done from here on out, so we can have even more complex storytelling and deeper character development from multiple perspectives? I know everyone loves playing as Chief, but people love Thel and his character and storyline, which was done fantastically in Halo 2. This offers more than just one side of the conflict (granted Halo has always shown it’s not black and white), but when it’s with more than one playable character, it seems to be very interesting to see more than one side’s view. You can argue that this takes longer, but Bungie had Halo 2 three years after Halo: CE and 343 is having this game three years after Halo 4. I imagine that they would be able to do this, I don’t know if they’re going to after this game in this saga, but it seems like it would benefit greatly. I don’t know where the story is going, but I think it would be wise to see both sides to the conflict and 343 would be smart for us to see either side, do you agree?

Creating an interesting protagonist players want to play as isn’t that easy. I think they’ve done a good job w/ Locke so far, though still, more is needed. I’d hesitate to say that there should always be multiple characters because they may lead to weak / uninteresting characters thrown in for the hell of it.

Also, if Halo 6 is Chief’s last game, as some have speculated, I want to play as him the entire game. No interruptions for that final ride.

I do understand alot where you’re coming from, jumping around could lead to underdevelopment. However, if they have the writing talent behind it, I think it could really work out well if they know how to balance out going from character to character like in Halo 2 and ODST. I do heavily understand your point at the end, if Halo 6 is the end of the road for Chief, I wanna really follow his journey one last time for a long Campaign. I just think that seeing other sides of a story is pretty interesting and we see other characters’ perspectives and development.

Halo 6 wont be the Chief’s last game, he is the Sonic or Mario of MGS. Keep in mind that 343 is just a division of MS, and that MGS executives and MS marketing guys wont ever let writers permanently remove the Chief.
That being said, I would love to see more games with multiple perspectives. ODST and H2 had the best stories in my opinion, if they can pull it off again in Guardians then I would love to see Halo 6 have multiple characters as well.

Marketing does not have control of the Halo story. Also 343i isn’t a division of Microsoft. They are a separate subsidiary company owned by Microsoft Studios, which is owned by Microsoft. They have more control over the Halo IP than you think.

Chief is different than Sonic and Mario because they do not exist in a universe with a timeline that is always moving forward. I’m not saying they can’t go back and make more Chief games in the future that maybe are set concurrently or before previous games in the franchise, but we will reach a point eventually where Chief will be too old to continue fighting in the Halo universe.

There will be a narrative end to his character. He will either die, retire and help run the Spartan-Vs (unlikely), or most likely, ambiguously disappear with an unknown fate. It may not be Halo 6 but it’ll happen eventually.

How many of you would want 2 sides of the Campaign from here on out?
