More Symmetrical Arena style Maps, Please

The world environment maps are nice, and great for big team, but I would love to see some small, arena style maps like Wizard or Foundation. I feel like these maps were part of what distinguished Halo from other FPS games. Haven and Impact are enjoyable and definitely help fill that void, but I’d like some even smaller and simpler. Not complaining, just suggesting. Any thoughts?

Give this a whirl:

CLASSIC MAP REMAKES - Halo 4

Yes please! If the next map pack doesn’t have smaller, competitive maps in it, I won’t be buying it.

I would like to see more Symmetrical maps, but they won’t play the same because of Global Ordnance.

Wont play the same necessarily, things are going to be different because it is a different game and I’m ok with that. I’d just love to have the option.

Great resources, Plastic Hassle, thanks for the reference

I really enjoy tight maps but find that sprint compresses their size so finding the right scale will be an interesting challenge.

What do you think of Relay?

Would you prefer something from 343 or is this better left to a community forge playlist?

Yeah, I think the faster paced gameplay is partially why there have been no small maps. Balancing this new feature with older map styles will definitely be a difficult task.

Which one is Relay?

I would prefer 343 made maps, but will definitely take forge creations

People were, rightfully imo, clammoring for this back when Halo 3 came out.

Didn’t need a bunch of forge maps or new maps to play H2 MLG cause the maps were legit.

H3, arena maps go out, player’s clammor for more of them… don’t get them in either of the two following games.

The developers are clueless.

They should hire some people who play the games next time. Idiots.

The popularity of Haven is a definite indication of this, the fact that practically everyone just want remade maps is another.

4 person slayer on Wizard. Theeeee best.

Is it really that hard for you to give 343 calm, civil, and mature constructive criticism without the unneeded childish insults while coming off as an overly angsty prepubescent child with a temper tantrum? You do this in every single thread you post in, and you’re just adding to the horridness of this forum. Grow up a little, will ya?

This game will suffer a long slow death without integrating some small arena maps (and better BTB maps while we are at it). But yes the biggest thing missing in Halo 4 is the arena slayer maps of old.

I’d like those maps as well but there would need to be a real classic playlist to go with them. The older smaller arena maps simply won’t play well with sprint and AA’s. They weren’t designed for that.

Exactly what I have said before, Havens popularity is a blaring indication of what the Halo community likes. We dont need this “world based” realistic environment maps. Arena style FTW. Its what the Halo wants and nothing will serve as a proper substitute.

I honestly wouldn’t mind seeing how the new dynamics worked on these sorts of maps. Clearly, I can just go play Halo CE Anniversary if I want to literally play original halo. I don’t mind playing with AA and Sprint, but to have small maps with clear lines of vision would be awesome.

People complain about how much Haven gets voted on and try to represent their opinion as a liaison for the entire community. Obviously this makes no sense… when Haven gets six votes in an eight person lobby, 75% of the represented community prefers Haven to the other options. The remaining 25% honestly probably didn’t vote for it because they typically lose on that map :stuck_out_tongue:

Relay is an on-disc variant of the forge map Impact. It is not currently included in the matchmaking rotation, which is a shame since it is IMO a very good arena style map which plays very well with AA’s and sprint.

Ah yes, I had been referring to this map simply as Impact.

I really like it, though I wish there weren’t those antenna things jutting up into the sky and blocking line of sight. I would love to see this in rotation!

People complain about Haven because it is played too much. Not because they don’t like the map. And people vote for it (despite it being played too much) because it is the best designed map in Halo 4 (for 4v4 or 5v5).

So the lesson is, make more Haven-like stuff, AKA Halo-like stuff, and people will be more content with map selection.

I’m glad we have reached an accord :stuck_out_tongue: Now we just have to get 343’s attention…

Too bad Mods only ever lock threads instead of talking to the community…
