More small arms weapons?

Halo 4’s primary weapon arsenal seems to have increased a buck load from previous titles but the secondary weapon selection appears to be a little thin. So far we have only played witness to two side arms, the Pistol and the plasma pistol (not exactly spoilt for choice) however I suspect we have a whole range of secondary weapon options awaiting for us just beyond the horizon not yet reviled.

I believe this because, for one, how can you not include the plasma rifle in a Halo game. SACRILEGE! And two, 343 said they originally experimented with the inclusion of dual wielding, before dismissing that ludicrous idea ;D, and I very much doubt they were only using two pistols or dual wielding battle rifles for that matter, and if they did have a bunch of weapon models in the works I doubt they would just bin them when they would fit perfectly as secondary’s.

So if more secondary weapons will indeed be making an appearance in Halo 4’s future what manner of diabolical pee shooters would you like to see?

The SMG? (the dreaded bullet hose)
Maulers? Do we really need more shotguns?
The Noisy cricket from MIB?

You have a very good point here and I wouldn’t be surprised if you’re correct. The existence of custom loadouts is what really makes me believe there must be more than 2 sidearms. I mean, allowing us to choose our own secondary weapon and only providing 2 to choose from sounds a little silly.

My only fear is that they may become repetitive or useless as has happened a few times in previous Halos. It’s still exciting to imagine what may be in store, though.

Can’t wait to see more of the weapon sandbox, especially new forerunner tools in the arsenal.

PS: I believe the Storm Rifle is the replacement to the Plasma Rifle so, although you see it as sacralige, it may not be implemented into Halo 4 /:

Yes more weapons please, more on the scale of timesplitters or perfect dark (n64).
I really dont wanna just have to use the BR DMR all the time because nothing else can compete.

I see the Storm Rifle more as a replacement for the Plasma Repeater. I do hope the Plasma Rifle does in fact return, it is an icon, but maybe more as a shield shredder to soften someone up for a melee.

I hope you’re correct because I think it would make a cool sidearm. I guess we will see soon enough.

343i already said the plasma rifle was out. I do not have the link maybe somebody else still does.

Is it too much to ask for dual wielding, futuristic revolvers, and a awesome Clint Eastwood poncho for my Armor?

Probably yeah.

Yes to the SMG, Yes to the Maulers and maybe spikers. The noisy cricket might be a little overpowered. XD

HELL YES!!!

In an E3 demo, the player went into the Loadout menu and in the secondary slot there was a 2/2 (2 out of 2) under the weapon’s picture. Pretty sure there’s only 2 secondaries, but I could be wrong. I’d love to see an M6C-S (S=Socom)/(AKA the ODST pistol). Weapons like the Needler and Mauler are too powerful to be given on spawn, and actually the Needler is a counterpart to the Sticky Detonator.

But for primaries, placing the M7(SMG) and Plasma Rifle in the Primary Category would be cool. I’d love to see weapons like a infantry M247H and the Needle Rifle, even the Plasma Repeater to compete with the Assault Carbine.

343i said this game will have more weapons than any previous Halo game. I’m hoping a lot of them will be small arms. I’m also hoping there’ll be new types of weapons that we’ve never seen before and that function uniquely.

At any real rate, we have more than double the primary weapons to secondary weapons. Yes, we need more secondary, but what would be useful?

Needler
Plasma Pistol
Magnum
Plasma Repeater (why no Rifle?)

Is that all?

I agree. We need more sidearm-type weapons to suit different playstyles. Right now, the only sidearms we have are the Magnum and Plasma Pistol (that we know of). I think that Halo could use a couple variants of the UNSC handgun. Maybe a Magnum-type (hard-hitting but low r.o.f., high recoil/bloom, and low magazine count) and a standard handgun-type (not as hard-hitting, high r.of., low recoil/bloom, higher magazine count) like the pistol from ODST.

With an expanded secondary weapon selection you make Firepower relatively pointless.

I’m pretty sure that the plasma rifle and possibly the SMG will be secondaries. I don’t see why we would only get two secondaries.
