One of things that made Halo 3 great was the immense replay ability of the campaign. The skulls had to be found to be activated, which was so challenging! The Easter Eggs were legendary and could be found only with skill (Halo 3 the last level!!!). The achievements for the armor unlocks, especially the Recon armor, made the campaign a massive treasure chest of awesomeness.
Halo: Reach and Halo 4 failed on these accounts, so hopefully Halo 5 won’t.
Opinions?
We definitely need to be able to collect skulls again. It’s way more to find them in the levels themselves instead of automatically have them.
I’d also like to see more notable easter eggs, like the cavemen in Halo 3/ODST, the Scarab Gun in Halo 2 as well as the talking Grunts in the original trilogy. Make awesome, creative easter eggs which are worth finding!
It would also be nice for some achievements to unlock armour. Although that isn’t to say that you shouldn’t be able to purchase armour too.
If this is a roundabout way of asking for Halo 3 mechanics, I say no.
-
Halo 3 armour looked way more like plastic than Halo 4’s did, excluding campaign, which looked like ceramic.
-
Having all armour unlocked by achievements limits the amount of armours we can have, giving rise to a small amount of armours. Let’s face it, Halo 3’s selection is pitiful compared to Reach/4.
-
Whatever 343 does, they shouldn’t -Yoink!- out the ‘top’ armour like Bungie did with Recon. That lessened the value of it, as pretty much anyone could get it for whatever weird miscellaneous reason.
-
Scratch that, don’t have a top armour to begin with. It promotes elitism. Just have armours that show you’re good at certain aspects of the game. I’m a decent CQC guy, but a bad sniper. I get a CQB helmet, whereas the next guy gets a Scout helmet or something.

You kind of contradicted yourself…
Unlocking armor from doing specific aspects of the game more is as bad and limiting as getting them from achievements. Even worse I’d say.
That would mean people grinding for example sniping just so they can unlock a Scout helmet.
Everything should be unlocked by rank instead. Start with a few armor sets and the higher rank the more armor you have.
Most of the halo 4 armors totally sucked, so I would prefer quality over quantity and some armor that can be unlocked on a certain rank and other unlocked by doing certain stuff in the multiplaer or in the campaign( not meaning achievements).
Halo 3 also had campaign scoring, theater for film clips and screenshots!
Bring back the Katana and all of the Halo 3 Armour, dual weilding, the flame thrower, fire and spike grenades, game play as Spartans and Elites.
Add liquid nitrogen grenades and liquid nitrogen thrower gun that is like the flame thrower, this opens up opportunities for new achievements like Fire and Ice, Frozen Solid, Ice Cube, etc.

100% agree. In fact, if you’re not actually collecting skulls, then why are they even called skulls?
