I think Halo 4 will need ranks added.
For some perspective, in Halo Reach I just made it to Reclaimer (just shy of Interitor). That took me over 16,000,000 credits or XP. In Halo 4, I’ve got over 2,700,000 XP and I’m already rank 107. I’ll be at maximum rank by the beginning of December.
They’ll either need to add more ranks (like they did in Reach) or do something to keep things going.
Or you could stop playing Halo 4 at some point and realize there’s no reason to steamroll the ranking system within the first month of the game’s release.
shrug
In all likeliness? No. Probably not.
The rank is less important really. Getting to the end is just fine. That way you finally have all the gameplay oriented stuff unlocked and can really buckle down and start working towards perfecting how YOU play Halo 4 loadout by loadout with everything openly available.
Perhaps, if we are lucky, they will add Specializations. It could be pretty unfair though, because if they aren’t released to everyone (Like having them as part of paid DLC) then that means anyone that can’t cough up the dough is left in the dust. Even if that is only a small part of the player base it sets a bad image for the whole game and the developer.
No probably won’t happen.
We need a 1-50 ranking system. It assures quality games for the most dedicated/hardcore players. Please don’t do this Waypoint only rank. Lots of people have been clamoring for a 1-50 system since Reach. Why won’t they give us this?
It is so lame beating up on noobs.
> We need a 1-50 ranking system… Lots of people have been clamoring for a 1-50 system since Reach. Why won’t they give us this?
One word why not: boosting.
People forget that players were making money off of Halo 3 selling rank 50 accounts. It happened. And Microsoft will never allow that to happen in Halo 4.
Everyone knows that’s a stupid reason. In no way did it affect the net income of Microsoft or Bungie. Not in any significant amount, in any case.
It’s just an excuse.
> No probably won’t happen.
Well well see. I know I’m the exception to the rule with most other players still below rank 70, but if too many people begin to hit max rank too early, they’ll need to do something to maintain interest. The next Halo isn’t due out for another year or two.
One reason I think they will is the very lame reward I hear you get when you reach SR130.
And if they don’t, I’m sure you’ll never see things like double XP weekend or jackpots… seriously…

I don’t think it’s just an excuse when you read the terms of use. It’s expressly written that no player shall have gainful use of the game. Many YouTube folks got all butt hurt when they read this, but this wasn’t directed towards them. It was directed towards those who wanted to boost accounts in Halo 4 for profit. Make no mistake. Microsoft has made it abundantly clear that they will not allow players to make money off of their game. End of story. No visible ranking system every again. Get used to it.

Call it what you want, it’s an excuse. It in no way hurts Microsoft. Sure, they have all the right in the world since they made the contract and the intellectual property is theirs, but 2% of the halo population making a small amount of money off of their game isn’t detrimental to their company. They’re just being greedy Microsoft.
So, yes, it’s an excuse.
I guess I don’t understand why microsoft would care people who bought 50s in halo 3 tend to play even more after that because they want to feel like they earned it. selling accounts only helped microsoft because when a kid buys a 50 he now has to gold accounts…
It’s funny, though. Take a look at eBAY, amazon, etc.
See all those DLC codes being sold for money? “No personal gain through our game”. What a joke, lol. They don’t even monitor stuff like that. They could care less.
An armor/specialization DLC that ups the level cap? I could see it.
Ok some people decided to crap on this post with their 1-50 rank complaint that will never happen, but back to the original thought: I think added ranks/specializations will need to be added if too many people max out too fast…

I hope so…

People sold high ranking Reach accounts as well.

Yep, I could see this too. I think it would be good too, what with the continuity of Spartan Ops and all. They need a reason other than the love of the lore to keep some players playing.
Rewarding players for their time spent grinding or purely playing for hours on end should be paramount though. I sure as hell don’t just want an emblem for SR130… Lets just hope they keep the rewards coming IF they increase the level cap

New specializations would mean more perks and having an advantage given to people who pay will sadly cause a monumental tsunami of complaining.
