More proof the AR is balanced

In slayer with BR starts, no one ever picks up the AR

How does that prove it is balanced? If anything it shows that it is not balanced and not worth using.

I swap it for my pistol frequently because it’s a lot better from close range than the BR. But I’ll choose a power weapon over AR any day.

Perhaps that’s also one reason why so few pick it up…? It has nothing to do with weapon balance.

I think AR’s damage output is fine. I want it to be worth using because I know I will end up playing AR gametypes in the final version too(and I hated the AR gametypes in Halo 3). It just feels too accurate with the smart scope.

the AR isn’t balanced, but it IS overpowered, the reason why people aren’t picking it up in br starts is because in br start, teh smart player will be teamshooting which wil overpower the ar at all times…usaully.

It shows that the BR is a power weapon.

Nope.

From what I see on the forums, I’ve concluded that there are a lot of players who want AR compete with BR at BR’s optimal range, and likewise a lot of players who want BR to compete with AR at AR’s optimal range. Then there are those with valid points made about the weapon balance, but they’re far less vocal.

BR: The optimal mid-long range weapon. Loses to AR at short range and DMR at long range.

AR: Beats BR and DMR at short range because of its high RoF and damage output. Additionally, automatic fire functionality makes it easier and more reliable to use against moving targets than semi-automatic rifles at short range.

Like I’ve said several times on these forums, I want the AR to be worth using but I don’t want it to compete with any other starting weapons in their given optimal circumstances. That is why I want the AR’s base damage output to stay as it is, but I do think it is simply too accurate. I can beat BR with my AR at longer ranges than I’m supposed to, thanks to the smart scope. Personally, I’d either remove AR’s smart scope or make the weapon less accurate at mid range.
