Devs use a bunch of jargon and use “cat-mittens” when communicating with their audience. I am simply cutting to the chase and reading between the lines.
Infinite will NOT have SWAT/Snipers/Slayer/(insert whatever gametype/mode you want to see here) all at once at any point in the future. Its not because of testing or whatever blah blah blah people say, its because 343i want as few playlists as possible. Probably because SBMM and just a general concern for matchmaking times/experience.

They have to be outsourcing development or something. There’s no way it takes a month to make a slayer playlist for a AAA team.

How does it take over a month after the release of a Halo game to include a slayer playlist. It’s simply unbelievable that it’s something they have to work on just now after receiving feedback, as if it’s not something they thought about or anticipated.

Even though it would have been ideal to have more game modes available on the 8th, it’s comforting to see there is a plan. New modes by the end of the year is good news.

I feel like this is the most disappointing launch of a halo title. I hope the campaign is good at least, in six months when I get to sit down with my family to play.

Exactly what I’m saying. We’re talking a flip of a switch. There’s no way I can believe it’s an unintentional oversight to leave slayer playlists out of your Halo multiplayer game.

It takes long because they have more than one thing to worry about at a time, like campaign or different modes for multiplayer or fixing bugs. It’s not like the entire 343 team works on multiplayer at the same time.

The high IQ folks have been conducting surveys and analyzing feedback for years and they act as if these are revelations? I don’t like to be negative but, good grief, they really shoved this thing out the door before it was ready.
As a side question, we know the game type is available already, so will Fiesta be available in custom games at launch?

As we could see with the Tenrai event, they already have the ability to enable or disable playlists. They could do that in combination with an event pass and promotional store items, during a “beta”. There’s no way it takes any kind of significant effort to simply enable a slayer playlist.

I may be mistaken, but I think he is saying that the 3 playlists, and later Social Slayer as well, will be permanent playlists, not events. He is saying that the original plan was to test them each on Events to see how many people play them before deciding rather or not to make them permanent. But this reads like those plans have changed now. Datamining showed that a Tactical (SWAT) event was planned for February, but now we are getting Tactical Slayer (SWAT) earlier than the February event, in December. Fiesta is also being made a permanent mode, but they will also have the return of the Tenrai event at several points over the rest of the season in order for people to finish the Tenrai event battlepass.
As for other game modes, besides these 4, I guess they will test those on future events before making them permanent, Infection and such. Dataminers have already found assets for Infection, so we know it’s coming at some point.

This is just dumb. There is no good reason why other game modes can’t be in by Dec 8. I mean they already had Fiesta in. And we are supposed to accept that they can’t just put it in again? Or other game modes?

Fiesta is a bit of an oddity, you would think it would basically be like flipping a switch to turn it back on since we just had it as an event last week. Only thing I can think of is they want to wait until the other 2 are finished so that they can add them all at once.
As for the others, I can see how they might take a bit longer. On SWAT they may be doing internal playtests to test each of the 4 precision weapons in the game (BR, Commando, Sidekick, and Stalker Rifle) to determine which of the 4 will be your 2 starting weapons, and also to determine if they should put spawn stations for the other 2 weapons on the map or not. They also may be testing whether or not to leave in grenades for SWAT. As for Free for All, they will probably be doing some internal playtesting to see if they need to change the respawn rates at the various weapon stations around the map. They will also be testing to make sure that spawns work properly, so that the modes don’t release with people spawning on the enemy side of the map in SWAT, and in Free For All to make sure that somebody doesn’t respawn in the exact same spot that somebody else just respawned at seconds earlier and start shooting them in the back.

“to try new modes”
Don’t even try that excuse. Man. This game has been in development for ages. Fiesta, SWAT, they’ve been in Halo for ages. No need for testing at this stage. They should’ve been in the game day one

I think they are referring to player populations. The goal of the events was to monitor the player populations on each of the playlists during the event, to make sure that no single mode is hurting the player populations on the other playlists so much that it becomes difficult to find a match. However, I personally think that is a bit premature at this stage, the game is new and the playerbase is huge, they surely have enough players to support at least 10 or 12 different playlists currently. Maybe in a year or two if enough people quit they will have to close out some playlists or consolidate some playlists into a single playlist, but this close to launch there shouldn’t be any population issues at all.

It’s good that more modes and playlists are coming, but Slayer already exists in the game and you’re telling me that they can’t simply restrict a playlist to just Slayer until possibly early next year? Fiesta was all Slayer!
The game is not “officially” launching with its staple game mode as a selectable option. This is ridiculous.

…how hard…how sodding hard is it to add FFA AND -Yoink!- SWAT?! oh, i’m sorry, ‘tactical slayer’, new name sucks
but seriously! they have the code to implement gamemodes, and they have the code to make swat and ffa in custom games. this just comes of as lazy to me

It’s kind of mind boggling to think they didn’t think to include more playlists than this for the launch until they got feedback. I’m willing to bet it’s somehow because of challenges and swaps.

It is just so telling that they didn’t even think to add a SLAYER playlist into the game at launch until prompted by lots of angry forum / reddit posts. Makes you think that either the people in charge of Halo MP have never seen or played a Halo game in their lives, or they had ulterior motives for not including them (guess which one is more likely!).
Also fwiw they could simply split the quick play playlist into slayer & objective like it is in every other Halo game as a bandaid before they add snipers or whatever gametypes they wanna add. That shouldn’t take 5 minutes unless their pipeline really is busted. It’s so mind boggling it’s gonna take them this long to add slayer ffs.

Relax everyone. It’s just a beta.
Dev just literally confirmed no new playlists are coming on launch day… It’s not a Beta. It was never a Beta. It’s either a Beta now and will still be a Beta on Dec. 8, or it was never one in the first place.
I say it launched into early access and will continue to be so until forge & customs are feature complete. That’s a far more accurate description of the state of this game than calling it a “Beta”.
